Thank you so much for this video. 2:13 Was exactly the picture I needed. Over years of use, the original cable on my 990's ripped 2 of the 3 wires out of the solder connections inside the Left Headphone. This video was the only one that clearly showed the board and the connections. Couldn't find a schematic online, and all other videos on the 990's didn't show a close up of the primary/left ear board. Re-Soldered them, and they work just fine.

Thank you for the guide. MUCH more sensible than most other cable mod videos/guides. Especially for the soldering part. Almost every other video shows soldering the cables to the speaker PCB, which is way riskier than just cutting the cable long and only soldering to the jack connector. Also much more sensible with opening the hole up. Most other videos imply that you have to use a dremel tool.

Thanks, that's true. Soldering cables to the speaker PCB can damage the small wires connected to the speaker's voice coil, which could render the driver unusable.

Are the White Cable always Left, the Red Always Right and Black Always Ground?
@TechscrewDIY5 ай бұрын
no, always better check with multimeter.

@@TechscrewDIY How can i check them with a multimeter, im a little bit lost. I know what the socket is, but for the headphone driver cables. How do you tell if the Black is Ground ect.

Is it better to do the miniXLR mod or the 3mm jack mod?
@TechscrewDIY3 ай бұрын
3.5mm audio cables are more popular ar cheaper.
@jupiterapollo49853 ай бұрын
@@TechscrewDIY Thank you. One more question, does miniXLR give better audio over 3mm jack or is it pretty much the same?
@spaantzАй бұрын
@@jupiterapollo4985 People will argue as to whether it's any better, but most would say there is no difference. I say there's no difference
@aeko28 күн бұрын
@@jupiterapollo4985 Was also wondering. Did some research on mini XLR: Balanced Audio Support: Typically supports balanced audio, which can reduce noise and interference, especially for long cable runs. Durability: Mini-XLR connectors are more robust and less prone to wear and tear compared to most 3.5mm jacks. 3.5mm is unbalanced often but is also more convenient. Likely wouldn't make a huge difference assuming connectors and cable are good quality.

no idea why all headphones don't come like this to begin with.
