I got the V7 after seeing it so many times in the comparisons. It's such a great sounding dynamic at 100 bucks, nothing else seems to beat it in this price range. One downside tho, the V7 seems quite sensitive to EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference) possibly due to the magnet they use in it. Using it near a computer has given me some headaches. I hope this is just my unit tho.

Beyerdynamic can't give up with the insane top-end..it's a shame cause without that low-end I think this could've been a great dynamic. At its price point the Procaster is probably just a no-brainer..wonder how the M90 sounds.
@Jisooee2 жыл бұрын
I think it's not the high-end, look at this: 1:40. That boost around 4khz is so massive, almost +10db. That's the harsh-sounding part of this microphone. We can obviously hear the upper-midrange, overshadowing the high-end & low-end.

RE320 with a bit of eq to chop off the high frequency sizzle is always the standout for me in these comparisons. It's like an SM57 on vitamins. This new Beyer certainly looks nice and sounds like it could work well with some eq. It has a cheerful and forgiving character in the mids making it very listenable. The sE 7 was the nicest sounding with your voice. I have a lower voice so the m70 might sound ok with my natural tone. But for the price point, I’d spend it on the RE320. I felt the Podmic gave it a fair run and for 1/3rd of the price. I use an sm7b, podmic and a Presonus PD70 and like all 3. The Rode Procaster sits in a box.

I really appreciate your extremely thorough review and comparison on this microphone. I just got one of these but it has not yet arrived, and it has come down in price because it is now only $189 on Amazon. I am far from the expert that you appear to be, however I found that for the application I intend to use this for it sounds just right to me, and from what it sounds like you would not agree, because my use case is for recording an audiobook. I have a collection of microphones as well, but all of mine are more in the budget arena with my Rode Podmic and Maono PD400, and an AT2020 and I felt that these were all too 'broadcasty' (boomy) for my taste in this application. I prefer this for podcast/broadcast but feel it would be difficult to listen too for an audiobook of an 8-10 hour length. Obviously its all subjective, but I really appreciate your review because I do not have any high-end gear like yours to compare it too, and I found that I REALLY liked the M70 better than almost everything else you compared against except that one at the end that had such a WOPPER of a price tag on it that I choked on it.

as always, a great video. this time, however, i don't completely agree with you. especially in broadcast use, it's a big win for me. lower male voices are carried much better by this microphone, since the low frequencies don't take over as much as with the usual suspects like SM7B or RE20. in my opinion, these and similar microphones are highly overrated. do they have their place? yes, for high female and male voices, for the masses they are not suitable.

My preferences for recording spoken voices would be Neumann U87 and Earthworks Icon microphones because of their definition. For their universality: Shure SMB7 and Electrovoice RE20. Great for different reasons: Rode Podmic, Se Electronic sv7, AT2040, RE320, Heil, M160. In spite of an artificial sound (shouty), I find that this Beyerdynamic may be interesting for music radio (not sure). What is said always remains very intelligible whatever the speakers. Good tool for this case ? EQ and processed sound can do things like this. On the other hand, the external pop filter disturbs the reading on screen, it is a pity. It seems to have a "good" of axis sound. I usually like their mics for their "softness" as opposed to this one. I try to understand this choice. Very special mic. The Beyerdynamic M90 pro x seems more generalist, a comparison would be interesting. Sorry for bad english.

Agree with your assessment on the M70 Pro X. The off axis rejection is phenomenal, buuuut, that high end is just boosted too much. Sure, you can EQ it, but I'd rather start with a clean signal that needs less overcompensation. On the electric though, yeah, it sounds crunchy, but clean, both lead and rhythm sounding great. I'd go with the NT1 over this (but I already have one, so I'm biased) OR the SM7B Used if you're in an untreated room, at $300 though.

We should understand what's the purpose of this microphone. Broadcasting. I found it to be the best of all tested microphones... on that role. Our voices are “naturally” unbalanced, so it's difficult to qualify a microphone by listening to one voice. Obviously, it's not the best microphone for your voice, but it might be the best one for voices a bit lower than yours. I usually listen to lots of podcasters, equalising most of the tested microphones. They enhance low and high frequencies a bit to get more intelligibility. That is the strong point of this microphone. You won't need to do this. Even so, most of the microphones will never sound as transparent and intelligible as this one. I'm Spanish, so transparency and clarity are qualities that allow you to understand better whatever people say in English. When you used Beyerdynamic, I understood everything you was saying. It was a bit more confusing for the rest of them. The SM7 has more body, warmer, and it would be pretty similar to the Beyerdynamic if we would move all frequencies toward the bass a bit. My conclusion is that I never heard a more transparent microphone like this one. I wouldn't say I like it either to sing or play instruments; too analytical. It's a microphone designed for broadcasting, and it is much better than the others on this task. Modern, ultra-transparent sound, never affected by the proximity of the mouth, is designed to avoid the usual problems you find when speaking. As always, some equalisation is necessary for each voice. I would buy it if I wouldn't already have an Aston Spirit. Well, I know, I don't have any idea about microphones, and I am deaf... It is my opinion. Thanks.

It sounds like an finished/EQ'ed vocal? It's a bit too expensive but I actually like it on your voice more than an SM7. The high end is smoother than the RE20 or the Earthworks on your voice. Could be a great mic for a podcaster who doesn't want to EQ their voice imo. If you want more bass, just speak a little closer :)
