Another thing I wanted to add, Beyonce didn't just up and do a country album. There's a lot of History behind it and Beyoncé is also country. She's from Texas, born and raised, her dad is from Alabama and her mom from Louisiana so she's country through and through. Some years ago, she performed her country song Daddy Lessons from the Lemonade album at the CMAs and was met with a lot of racist backlash (someone from the audience literally yelled "get that black b*tch off the stage"). So she decided to go back to her country roots and dig deep into the history of country music and black people's place in it. This album has been 5 years in the making and she released a whole other album during that time. Cowboy Carter is more like a history lesson and a rebirth and it's shaping up to be her most critically acclaimed album yet. She has broken so many ceilings with this one.

It’s primarily themed around country music but it's not strictly "country" it incorporates elements of various genres crafted together as a collective work -country, rock, funk, pop, r&b, trap, rap. etc. Basically it's an album about how music grows and evolves, and how we should grow and evolve with it; it's about not being confined by the constraints of genres; that music can be stretched, bent, and blended; and that artists should make bigger creative risks and experiment more with music and their art. and Beyoncé cannot be contained in one genre. She said before releasing the album that "This ain't a country album. This is a Beyoncé album." Cowboy Carter is just the second installment or the second act in Beyoncé's ongoing album trilogy. Act I: Renaissance (Dance & House Music) Act II: Cowboy Carter (Country music themed) Act III: (rumored to be Rock music) She's 2 for 2 so far. Both acts were well received.

This came out my freshman year of high school in 2008. So nostalgic. Loved this era of Beyoncé and Rihanna. (You should listen to Rihanna’s song take a bow. From the same year as if I were a boy. It was my fav song for years)
