Jimmie Rodgers: "Blue Yodel #1 (T for Texas)". 1928. The first country song. A blues song , as all American music forms including country are based on the blues. The Carter Family employed a black musician to transcribe local Hillbilly roots songs to paper. Many were blues. There was and is no bluegrass music without the 5 string banjo. Africa runs through our music again and again . The blues is foundational for all of it. RIP W.C. Handy "Memphis Blues" 1912.

@Juicingwjade, and with that comment you prove to be the most relevant reason why true artists of music- any music- provide such gifts. Yeah, trophies and awards are good. But over the course of time, they are just objects that can sit there and collect dust. To realize that what they make and produce is constantly enjoyed, and treasured by so many individuals out there, that they may never interact with, has the most lasting impact for them and derives the greatest sense of lasting satisfaction for them. If Beyonce had your contact information, and the opportunity to reach out to you- trust that she would let you know just how much that means to her.

It's sad to see people on the News so uneducated, He said it right the 1st time ,1 continent of people don't own country music because Europeans likes Irish & Scots came with there own type of folk music rooted in story telling & instruments from the middle east.there dialect is what morphed into southern accents & some still have today, you later merge that with black southerners & you have bluegrass, Country & Western ,rockabilly & Modern Counrty Music. The West Was deeply rooted in Country & western EVERYTHING even when I grew up in the 70s in Oakland California (its the west lol) we had Black Cowboy parades, Rodeos, in school we learned Square dancing, clothes etc. MY family is from Texas Oklahoma &Louisiana as most people families were back then. So Country Music & the Blues was all most Grandparents listened to & I've studied it. So I believe Beyonce came about it honestly, (Texas)whether it's another gimmick or not ONLY she knows that. I just Wish Black people showed Charlie Pride this love I remember how much he was mocked growing up but People like him, Ray Charles & others were brave. MUSIC IS UNIVERSAL & belongs to 1 race THE HUMAN RACE 1❤ 1🌍

I even noticed in the lyrics whereas she initially sings, "mama crying, daddy grinding," only to alter those words near the end of the song to "mama crying, daddy (lying)" Queen, you totally rock, and you deserve your flowers. C'mon. She literally introduced Country Music outside the US. This is especially true now in Asia (Phils., Sokor, Malay, Indo, Sing. Viet., Jpn & the like) also, in Europe that knows nothing or little about US own Country Music, which trending the tap dancing of "Texas Hold Em." Outside US, pips mostly viewed US Country Music as quite boring, exclusive for White pips only and SNOBBISH by not reaching out to other international audience. They viewed it as an exclusive mationalistic folk songs for white people. Beyonce transcends what CM is all about, she is reaching out to international audiences and it felt freeing that is okay to jam along with it. Because 👑 🐝 Beyonce say so.

@TRB-yg4ph Nope. The real issue is, traditional Radios runned by white folks especially in Texas that exclusively played US CM refused to play on air 👑🐝 new CM because of their claims she's not a CM Singer, it turned out most of them were not aware she has a new CM single. Quite refreshing indeed knowing that historically CM roots actually originate from black americans CM singers as their way of expression to that tides of times as enslaved to being free, combining their African cultures, religion up to angst of social discrimination they experience and make it mainstream in US Radio. Then, white pips adapted, sang CM and it seemingly owned for exclusively white pips genre only. Until 👑🐝 release her new CM now and educate the whole world NOT just the US listeners, the beautiful tapestry of US CM that it is not a snobbish & scary biblical laden nationalistic white pips songs. It should be celebrated.

Congratulations Beyonce from New Zealand. Absolutely love your Country songs. As a child I listened to my mums music(she loved Country) like Charley Pride, Kenny Rodgers, Dolly, Tammy Wynette. Which is why I am so happy to be reminded how much I too love country music. Thankfully Beyonce knows how to deal with the haters, just keep doing you Bey❤😊❤

Sadly, when you read music history books there's very little praise for black, brown and other non-white cultures. There are no special essays written about those genres and their are not intellectualized like the western/european/white contributions to music.

@@antoniojohnson3925 She really did make a country song though, it sounds two stepping and with all the instrumental elements used in country. She even has more of that twang in her tone. So it is country perhaps call it neo-country lol or brown skin counrty like how they have blue -eyed soul music

That is incredibly sad that this is the first time this has ever happened, although I think the country music genre has a sexism problem, in addition to a racism problem, because I know a lot of other white female country artists have had issues within this genre as well.

I'm black American and I have gone 3 years in a row to the Nashville Country Music Fest and thoroughly enjoyed it because I love country music but it would have been so nice to see a few black country artists performing as well it doesn't matter if the Asian black white or anything else if they sound good perform well you can enjoy it but realistically everybody needs to stop worrying about who's singing what Who's acting and what play and need to focus more on what's happening in the world children being murdered kidnapped sex trafficking and these senseless Wars and talks of nuclear war everybody has enough time to sit here and make comments on a song with music that you can dance to surely everyone has time to raise their voice and speak up against War and all the injustices that are being done to all the innocent people and children globally

The Country singer Kelly Clarkson enjoys singing ALL genres of music. No one throws stones at her for doing so. Kelly opens her TV talk show each day by singing a sample from a popular song usually requested by an audience member. And they Love it! Meanwhile, Korean Soul is one of the most popular new Asian singing groups and they are most famous for singing genres of music associated with Black Americans; Gospel music, R&B, and Soul Music. They’ve even performed live with the Black Gospel music great BeBe Winan. Audiences love them. Music is Universal and should be celebrated and enjoyed by everyone who appreciates it.

I believe the promo for Beyonce's Renaissance Act 2 says the album is "country inspired" this is not to say that Beyonce is now a country artist... She just happens to be a multi talented artist that is doing something with country influence right now. I think that this is a great time to just stop putting labels on people. I can think of at least a half dozen genres of music that have influenced my music taste over the years.... Everything from rock n roll to gospel to country are in my playlists. If this too is Beyonce's story, then it should be okay for her to share that story through her music.

I am an old white woman but I love seeing black people in country settings. I follow a black line dancer, a black horseman because, like women in history, black people were there, they have been ignored, hidden. How many black families were farmers? Its great that Beyonce has taken this and as usual, made it hers. My daughter tried to get me to like Beyonce for years. I resisted.I had some weird ideas back then but I opened my mind and my ears. Now I am a fan, especially enjoying the boppy ,dancing Texas Hold'em.
