Even her speech is a perfect dramatic monologue, she should win an Oscar for her speech. Angela has the "it" factor. She's amazing & so deserved this award.

@@budlight6665 In reality she absolutely won. They give these honorary awards out for peoples achievements over time not just 1 film for 1 year. You can look at it from your but perspective but I never will. Whenever her name appears in a trailer it’ll say academy award winner just like for all other winners. If it was a pity award I’m sure she wouldn’t have even accepted it. So chill out and be happy for her because she’s happy and that’s all that matters !

We need to stop being excited about barely making in a racist society. Still trying to prove what to these people accepting being paid under which will happen to the next set of actors and actresses. This is some glorified slavery stuff!!! Still working hard for nothing and excited when somebody just makes it it's 2024 and we still stuck on being excited about who came next for some plastic and oh wow the racist want to accept you for being a good little puppet. This is not winning if times haven't changed we would still be in the fields picking cotton and house N*&*3* believe that don't get it twisted. Just slavery dressed up to look like something it's not BS open your eyes integration was the worse thing for us and it made is be stuck and backwards not having our own but being owned at all points. She lost for 2 reasons: 1- Oscars have a Death To Marvel mentality (which i sort of agree with - those movies are collectively garbage) 2- Too many Asians won acting awards that year, so all Angela could've filled the category all by herself & they still would've written in a white woman.

A True Queen. Her receiving this honor, instead of a win from last year's Oscars ceremony, at least allowed her the opportunity to say these profound and necessary words. The speech hits harder now because of the recent conversation around the pay disparity and lack of opportunities between Black actresses and their white female and male counterparts. And actresses of color make even less money and receive even less opportunities. Hopefully, the entertainment industry will use this moment to meaningfully and significantly progress in its practices. It's been nearly one hundred years that the industry has existed, please get it together.

Angela Bassett is an influential figure and artist that deserves her flowers. She brings class, integrity, gravitas and pathos to every role she has played. There are many, many roles she could have played to perfection that she turned down because she is a lady and a thespian first; she refuses to do anything easy or to be a blemish in her industry because she knows what it means to be the only, to be the first, to be the barrier-breaker and knows that she would be looked differently as a black woman because of her choices. She took home this honorary achievement because the industry acknowledges she should have had one, two or even three competitive awards and they honored her because she remained gracious through it all, even when it was tough (and being an artist, especially today, is very tough!!). Thank you Mrs. Bassett, you did the thing. Now, get a competitive Oscar! It’s time to go EGOT!!

Merly Streep has 3 academies and will never have each award awarded to her. EGOT = (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar & Tony awards.) Walt Disney has the most Oscars (26) and 4 of them are Honorary but they don’t say he has 22 real Oscars and 4 fake ones it just says he has 26!
