Beyonce did a wonderful job of channelling Etta, and I think she was respectful in her portrayal of Ms. James. That being said, as much as I enjoy this rendition, it ain't no Etta James. Etta's version just makes my hair stand on ends - it is that powerful.

If you have not read the book on Etta James, its a must read, its hard, fast and very graphic just like Etta, she is raw and in your face! The book is out of print, but amazon will order it, may find a seller with one for sale. Beyonce cleaned Etta up in the movie Cadallic Records, and most certainly can out sing Etta hands down! Beyonce is a great talent and really should practice her craft with more of this type of blues music, this other rattle crap music will fall by the way side, proven fact the standards live on!!!!
