It's weird that the only thing people are taking away from this is just that Beyoncé got cheated on. Sure that's the crux of it, but there is so many layers and intricacies to it that the relationship stuff is just a part of it. It's about the whole of black womanhood, healing from many things that compound on black women. It's black power and black feminism, it's not just some basic ass story about Beyoncé, it's a magic speculative telling of all that we can do, be and hope to achieve as black people relating to each other. "I live for my man" is not what this is saying and totally misses the point.

I dont think the focus of this album should even be about whether or not Jay-Z cheated on Beyonce. I think that Beyonce is helping women who have been cheated on by letting them know that it is not their fault, helping them identify the stages when they are the victim and helping them understand that is okay to forgive. She is also helping women who have a pattern of being in volatile relationships understand the root of the problem which for most women especially black women stems from their relationship with their father (oir lack thereof). Anyone focusing on the drama or her relationship and whether or not she has been cheated on has totally missed the point.

It is geared toward Black women and the struggles and victories they face as explained through the poetry of writer Warsan Shire (who wrote the text between all the songs). Those are Ms. Shire's words not Beyonce. Please look her up. Warsan Shire is a Somali-British award winning poet who addresses the point of view that is a part of us all. The mothers and grandmothers who pick up the pieces and triumph through everything. I believe the message is DO NOT FORGET YOUR FIERCENESS. Winners don't quit.
