Lead singer Jari Maenpaa is the mastermind of the band. Formed in 2003 as a side project when he was still in Ensiferum, parted from them and focused on Wintersun due to scheduling conflicts between the 2 bands. You have seen drummer Kai Hahto and bassist Jukka Koskinen before, they are both in Nightwish now. Lead guitarist Teemu Mantysari is now in Megadeth. Jari is the songwriter and composer, yep he does take quite a bit of time to get everything together, recording started on this album in 2006, but wasn't finished and released until 2012. Only 3 albums to date, 7 years since the last album and 12 since this record, Time I. The 4th album, Time II, is finally scheduled for release later this year. He also has diminished lung capacity, he contracted TB during his compulsory military service and, as a result , lost part of 1 lung. (This is copypaste of chris6719) , and is best and most informative comment i have ever seen.

You asked your subscribers for more wintersun suggestions but technically this suggestion is not for wintersun but for jaris former band ensiferum before he left and formed wintersun. The song is LAI HEI wiillinker 41 version which this version you can see the band dressed as vikings. Ensiferum is a Viking folklore metal band as wintersun from Finland. Oh by the way the song is sung in Finnish and English. The next wintersun suggestion is wintersun steel of the gods from the legendary demos time 2 album. Absolutely love this song, and it has been one of my favourites for several years now. Even though it is so long, it is one of the few songs I often listen to several times in a row xDD The first time I heard it, I didn't quite "get it" since I was just casually listening to it, but after the second listen when I took my time to properly listen to the song (and not doing something else at the same time) I absolutely fell in love with it. Every time I listen to it, I am always awaiting for that theatre-musicalish sounding layered chorus part like a small child waiting for Xmas :D Really glad you also loved it 😍

There are so many layers to this song. Everyone gets hung up on Kai. Remember, Juka also is with Nightwish now. Jari is a master composer, just different from Tuomas.
