I think you missed a lot of interesting opportunities visiting Edam such as witnessing the cheese market. Consider visiting Rotterdam next time. I found that city very interesting. Southern Netherlands was totally interesting including a cave tour and the WWII fallen soldier’s cemetery

Thank you for the information What is the total cost of all trips? It would not have been better for Adam to travel after Volendam and from there to Marken - final destination and then return to Amsterdam. According to Google Maps the distances are shorter

I recommend you go to the tourist information office at Amsterdam main station and grab a free map of the region and it will show you the preferred route to visit those town/villages from Amsterdam. Their map is so helpful. It is easy to visit them on the same day if you start early.

Next time try to go inside the stores, show what they sell, how much it cost, what souvenirs to take home from the villages you visit, and just to see the food or other goods they sell inside the stores.

You can buy the pass from Amsterdam main station in the bus section that is located in the back. It gives you unlimited bus and train rides in that region.

Zaanse Schans. You said Schans very well, almost Dutch, but Zaanse You pronounced as Zaan instead of Zaanse. Don't forget SE on the end to pronounce too. 😉
