This is the bees knees. Exactly what Im trying to learn. I know the chords, but fingerpicking like this is a beast to learn.

I like your voice Stefan! You've got a pleasant tone over the sound of your playing. It's mega chilled Blues and I love it. Please do more covers if you feel like it! I've started developing nicer improvisation in the key of E since I've been watching videos like this one. Some lovely ideas and licks in there. I really enjoy just making it up as I go along lol

Incredible picking selection! Most are bit much for me, but I really like Cry Havoc and think I can work it out, it has a bit of an Etta Baker flavor to it. I was able to take some lessons from Etta back in the 80's and hope you will include some of her music into your lesson and DVD's as she was such a great blues player/singer and not very well known or recognized.

Just in case you aren't aware of it, Happy Traum's Homespun Tapes has an instructional DVD of Etta Baker tunes, with Ms. Baker herself demonstrating the tunes. It's well worth getting if you don't already have it.

Thanks, Stefan, for posting your wonderful playing! This is the kind of acoustic blues I want to learn. I'm trying to find a course, perhaps from your website, that teaches a newbie from the beginning. To clarify, I've been playing electric guitar (rock) for many years, but the fingerpicking blues is a different animal, especially with the steady or alternating bass.

I'm doing the same thing. Check out Eric Madis on KZbin as well. The Rolling E blues is challenging but gets you in that alternating bass note zone. He also teaches the 'monotonic' Robert Johnson style. I think Stefan has some tastier chord voicings though.

John Blume I recommend truefire David Hamburger Essentials: Fingerstyle Blues. I buy stuff from Grossman but don't know the more basic lessons on his site.

learning old Elvis songs is a good way to bridge across to finger picking. If you learn those scotty moore parts on songs like "baby lets play house" or "thats alright mama" will go a long way to learning to keep your thumb going..did for me at least. Put down the electric guitar, sand just play acoustic for a few months.
