Mental health treatment is not that advanced and demands years of consistent effort to rewire the brain for most with actual mental disorders or persistent issues. I have BDD on top of severe OCD, on and off disordered eating, agoraphobia, trauma, come from a poor family I have no contact with because of the trauma, and would end my life pretty quickly if I didn't benefit from my good looks by making money doing sex work. I finally had to try meds and therapy is a joke, it's all just life changes you are told to make that are not simple. If you've never felt extreme anxiety forcing you to do compulsions for hours a day every day then you don't understand how deeply ingrained these behaviors are for some of us. Surgery is a way of coping. It needs to be limited and psych evaluation needs to be enforced but fairly. It won't cure body dysmorphia but it's a lie that it won't help the person at all. I am much more able to live and not think about my looks when I'm thin and have lip filler-it makes me feel pretty and less stuck ruminating and anxious. A huge upgrade from wearing baggy clothes 24/7 and rarely leaving the house. It's a complex issue that demands complex treatment, which we don't have yet.

I did find a blog article that showed that a media outlet(I think?) from Japan even flew over to Korea to cover this when they heard of Han's passing, and they talked to some doctors. Apparently one Korean doctor said that foreign fluids from the face flowed into the lungs, causing the function of the lungs to decrease to 10% that resulted in her passing, but another doctor said that it's difficult to imagine that a foreign substance injected into the face or head would flow into the lungs. Another doctor (I'm not sure if this was a Korean or Japanese doctor) said there's a possibility that she passed from pulmonary embolism. Check out how long breast implants had been around before the medical community recognized and accepted that these can have health consequences in the long run. Fillers are too a billionaire industry, cosmetic surgeons and cosmetologists are NOT gonna do the research needed on their own. Also, how will you associate a current health issue to something you injected years ago? It can be happening but without being seriously studied, we will not know for sure.

So many people don’t understand that there is a difference between a cosmetic surgeon and a plastic surgeon. Any GP can call himself a cosmetic surgeon, but to be a plastic surgeon requires at least another 7 years specialist training. I’ve had procedures done in the past, never by a cosmetic surgeon, only a plastic surgeon is taking a scalpel to my face!
@CassandraY2 ай бұрын
If you are getting any work done that has any amount of risk, you do your research. Look for doctors with degrees or certifications (depending on the procedure) from real schools, that have at least three years of experience (that allows enough time for them to correct any issues with newer procedures) in that procedure and do internet searches to see if anyone is talking about them. Word of mouth doesn't mean much when the average person is an idiot. This is everything I've learned from people in the industry. I'm comfortable enough with myself that I don't see the point of cosmetic or plastic surgeries beyond making someone look better after injuries.

If I were to have anyone alter my face, I'd hand them pen and paper and ask them to draw me. If I get a stick man back or something I could do myself that ain't my surgeon. It is scary but stories like these are statistically rare. I’ve been getting conservative treatments for 8 years and have never had a problem. You just have to be careful. Avoid discount places, check reviews and qualifications. Same with any medical procedure, really. Btw-The first two stories involved silicone, which isn’t really used anymore. Hyaluronic acid is used now and is dissolvable if there is an issue. Silicone was more dangerous bc it has to be removed with surgery.

I think what should be highlighted here isn't that something went wrong. It's that something went wrong and no one knew what to do. If there were better systems in place for _when_ something goes wrong like the woman who's nose fell off, then damage could have been minimized, but unfortunately nothing was done for so long that's he had necrotic flesh on her face.

@@foreverwander0320 Bad egative outcomes are not that rare for certain procedures(BBl and nose jobs for example), but the point is: those beauty procedures are not needed, in the sense that they're not like a surgical procedure in an hospital that you need to survive. They are just little superficial enhancements, you can easily live without. So how many people would risk it while knowing about the negative outcomes, when they're so unnecessary? Some of these procedures, like botox, are secure(been used for 30+ years) and temporary enough that with a good professional you have an extremely low percentage of possible negative outcome. But other very popular ones, like new fillers, are not even old enough to be truly analyzed, tested and known to determine a reliable stat of bad outcomes. Doctors literally casually discovered a couple of years ago that fillers take years to go away and what they thought was them being "dissolved" is just the fillers migrating around. Hypothesis about the correlation between hyalu fillers and water intake causing heavy\pillow faces is just being made this year. Not to talk about hyalu fillers being able to block lymphatic systems when injected in the face(also just hypothesized this year) and them being able to block blood vessels and provoke necrosis, which is also a recent notion. I'll be ok with being a test subject for experimental procedures exclusively if it's life saving stuff, ppl should be made aware that they're being used as lab rats with crap that is untested and unreliable.

As an advanced, medically trained, insured aesthetic practitioner and trainer, I am in absolute disbelief at what these women have been through, in particular the last lady. I have commeneted on James' video of him getting filler in his nose previously and this is the EXACT reason. Even if somebody is a surgeon or doctor, they do aesthetic treatments to make MONEY. If they actually cared about your health and wellbeing ( as i do for all of my clients ), they would not TOUCH anywhere near your nose with any form of filler. In the UK Hylauronic acid based filler is the only legal filler that should be used, as filler that is collegen or sillicone based, commonly used in the US CANNOT be dissolved and in the case of complications, can only be removed with surgery, causing permanent damage and disfigurment. Even if HA fillers are deemed safe and reversible as most injectors in the UK will have you to believe, this isnt true as James makes clear in the video. Hylauronidaise/Hyalaise (dissolver) can cause tissue death and damage, blindness and much worse, the same as incorrectly placed filler. This can happen no matter where it is placed in the face or body. I was honestly shocked when i saw James having his nose filler procedure done - 1- it looked like it was being done in the back of a van? 2- his 'doctor' did not aspirate!(where you pull back the plunger on the syringe when you are going to inject to look for a blood flash back to see if you are in a vessel or artery) and it honestly made me feel sick... this man may be a 'doctor' but he should NOT be carrying out aesthetic treatments let alone on our lovely James ❤ if you arw unhappy with your nose, save your money and GET A NOSE JOB, it is 100000x safer and lasts. Just because it's a "Harley street" Doctor, it means naff all. I have had to dissolve and correct countless treatments done by harley street clinicians and I am Midlands based. What does this tell you? It really does anger me that these doctors are jumping on the aesthetic bandwagon to make MONEY. They are charging anywhere between £300-£500 to carry out a 30 second treatment with filler that costs NO more than £40 a syringe to buy. Jeuvederm is purely a lip filler (a horrible one at that as its rock hard and can take hours to dissolve) but that does cost £100 per box but that contains 2ml. I see practitioners/doctors selling treatments per ML like 0.5ml for x amount, what are they doing with the other 0.5ml? All needles and syringes are SINGLE use and CANNOT be kept in a fridge for your "top up or next treatment" as this crystalises the filler. I see people being told to put ICE on filler after a teeatment! People then wondering why their lips havnt settled and are hard and lumpy? Its because youve froze your filler and its now crystallised in your lip, and will take hours of work to be dissolved. I see people having filler dissolved without having a patch test, Hylauronidaise is the same allergent and agent that is in BEE STINGS and it is one of the highest strength allergens known to man, are you really going to inject 1000units of this into a face without checking with a small amount in the arm to check for an allergy?? Its SCARY and these among other reasons are why decent, ethically correct and fully trained eastheiticians are getting a bad name. At least once a day i am asked if i fill Breasts, Bottoms, Temples, noses and foreheads... all of which are a HUGE no no. Breast filler can cause tissue death and your nipples can fall off and also how are you then going to do your monthly breast check for lumps? You cant because there is OVER 200ml of filler in each breast. Buttox filler (known as a liquid BBL) Is probably the most dangerous of them all, no asperating, filler is being injected far deeper than filler is intentended to when not being injectted onto bone and due to this, if you have hit an artery (normally your majory artery that feeds blood all the way around your body) by the time it is noticed, tissue death and nerve damage has already onset. To dissolve filler in this area, firstly you have no idea where the occlusion is as the filler is so deep and there is so much of it in there you dont know where its coming from and cant do a pinpoint hyalise administration secondly its already too late to even help. You can DIE from this treatment, its no safer than a botched BBL in Turkey. Temple filler should be self explanatory if youve ever felt your temples, there is a strong pulse and you can feel sometimes see your artery. This artery leads to your BRAIN. Block this, and you will have a stroke. Worse case death. In fhe video where the poor ladys nose fell off from necrosis, the black patch of skin going up the side of her face is her main facial artery and for allll that time he has left it blocked theres more and more chance she could have gone blind. And im actually so shocked she didnt. Anyway i just spent an hour of my saturday morning typing this out just to spread some awareness because it really scares me how this industry is going. Everybody is beautiful and just keep in mind if your practitiner is filling these dangerous places, they are doing it for money and not because they care. I turn down at least 15 clients daily due to caring about wellbeing over money, thats a good £500 loss i make daily just because i CARE. I hope you all read and educate yourself and if anybody would like any further advise drop me a message or comment on this. ❤❤❤❤

THANK YOU! thank you SO MUCH for bringing this to attention and i sincerely hope every influencer ever out there does this, because you go there wanting to be "more beautiful" you gotta know there's HUUUUUGE risks. you gotta know you may not get what you wanted, but walk out absolutely horribly wounded with no turning back. it's your face, the one face that you care so much about that you go get procedures done for. think about it. don't do anything that has a less risky alternative. and if you really want it, find someone who knows and shares the risks. someone experienced AND honest. someone who would tell you to stop if needed. someone who would admit to mistakes or complications. there are as many egoistical money hungry maniacs as there are great doctors. choose wisely. ask about risks, don't believe anyone who says it's "completely safe" my friends, even drinking water isn't completely safe, how can an invasive procedure be so? come on. choose smart, people.

It’s so sad how much we (as a society) hate aging…it’s so normal. I feel like it’s especially frowned upon for women to age, and it’s almost as if older women are valued less. I feel like caveman brain has taken over societal norms.

That last story is a _nightmare._ It's easy to say "if I were in her shoes, I'd have gone to a hospital!" but in the midst of all that on top of her career demands, I can easily imagine myself getting caught up by fear and making the same choices.

I am a nurse, and I would never ever EVER seek cosmetic procedures from anyone less than a board certified cosmetic surgeon with actual patient reviews and results. And I would never ever EVER take the cheapest one on offer. If they're cheap, there's a reason for that!

Just KNOWING what complications can occur, what the symptoms look or feel like, how to respond to that is invaluable! If this happens it's a symptom of that - you'll know to go to the ER or come back tomorrow. Just an information pamphlet so that someone you live with could say "hey, I think you have this going on, let's get you looked after" so you're not just sitting at home thinking "it's probably fine, it's just bruising". God imagine having necrotic tissue and the doctor telling you it's fine.

I’m so sad and SHOCKED Krista didn’t go get a second opinion immediately after being told her blood vessel had been injected. And of course, sue the doctor for negligence!

OMG this is awful, I can’t imagine how much strength it took these ladies to get through each day. It’s something I can’t actually have done due to extremely deep scarring but now I’m grateful that I can’t.

I'm in my 40s, and it makes me sad that so many young women are going apeshit with fillers and whatnot. I 100% understand having insecurities, because no one is immune. What I *don't* understand is getting so much done to your face that you lose all your character and individuality...and for what? If you're in your 20s already, it sure as hell isn't going to make you look any younger! Quite the opposite, in fact. Not only that, but you're going to age significantly worse than if you had just left your face alone. Also, they really, REALLY need more regulation surrounding the cosmetic industry. Too many practitioners are perfectly fine with destroying someone's looks and/or health just to make money. It's disgusting and shameful.

I'm 50 yrs old, and it has never crossed my mind to do things to my face. I don't have much by way of wrinkles yet, but even so, at this stage in my life, I feel like I've earned them. I'm not afraid of needles, I'm afraid of not looking like myself. If I feel like looking different, I change my makeup. If people choose to get fillers, hopefully, they do their research, ask the right questions, and check the doctor's credentials before getting them done. Always avoid bargain cosmetic injections and procedures, because they become too costly in the long run should they go wrong.

Growing old is a gift. It means you're alive. I totally get procedures and definitely don't judge. It should be more supervised though.

Living isn't a gift. Especially if your a cis woman. From the moment you are born it's pure suffering, and then you get old and the world throws you away.

I just don’t understand why we can’t appreciate and celebrate maturity and the additional rizz people can have as they embrace maturing, rather than constantly fighting and demonizing it. Like if people spent more time adapting to their bodies and minds maturing, rather than trying to fight a losing battle against time, I think many people would be a lot better off.

I'm 51 and, although my face has started to age, I wouldn't get anything done. Every single line and droop tells my story of surviving a lifetime of both good and bad experiences. Sure, I had to learn to do makeup for my skins texture, but I really like the new me. I've also let my hair go completely natural, and am about 80% white. I look my age and I'm not only fine with that, I embrace it. I am PRIVILEGED to have lasted as long as I have on this earth, and I show face proudly!

It's sad that she, the woman from the first story, could afford plastic surgery but not mental health treatment 😢

remember: unless you get actually disfigured by an accident or illness, stay away from plastic surgery. It’s a bottomless pit and comes with so many risks.
@LuluZ0072 ай бұрын
All of this is horrifying - with regards to the last woman, Krista, a quick google search says that though not very common, you can hit a blood vessel during Botox which causes more bruising and swelling than normal and that an ointment would have been fine. But definitely after two days if I noticed that intense bruising and swelling I’d go straight to the ER or get a second opinion and not the surgeon who hit a blood vessel. My heart goes out to her 😖 I’m so shocked she hasn’t been able to sue either :/

I’ve seen too many videos warning against cosmetic procedures, it makes me never want to get them. It’s a blessing to age, not everybody gets to do it. Might as well embrace it.

It always surprises me that these people don't go to the ER right away instead of going back to someone who injects things (not being specialized in treatments).

Honestly, this last women who’s nose fell off, her biggest mistake was not getting a second opinion immediately. This is NOT to victim blame. The fault of course lies with the surgeon who kept stringing her on and gaslighting her and the fact that this man is still working is awful. It’s just that sometimes it’s worth getting a second opinion just to be reassured and because this first doctor has an incentive not to be honest

I remember watching a long documentary about the first woman a few years ago and the story is so sad. Plastic surgery can truly be a disaster when the vulnerable and wrong people get their hands on it.
