The original Beyond Good and Evil cast players as Jade, a reporter on a planet at war being invaded by an alien threat. Rather than being a predictable all-out shooter though, the game was a stealthy 3D platformer that saw players trying to harness the power of the media to fight the threat. Your camera was a much more effective weapon for Jade than any ray-gun. It also happened to be one of the most gut-wrenchingly emotional games I've ever played.

I think that's quite a good thing actually. Xenoblade had an awesome theme, but they overused it so much that it didn't sound so great after a while. A track has more impact when less used.

Beyond good and evil HD was on sale earlier on xbox live arcade, I asked a few people if I should grab it and was convinced rather quickly. Then I heard this song in the very beginning, it was awesome.

ubi didnt give the go ahead yet they just announce a development. >.> of a game that may (or may not) come out ok...it is more of may come out maybe end this year next year or that date is not the actual date....just remained surprised darn you! lol.

Well, kind of. Series creator Michel Ancel recently spoke to French games magazine JeuxVideo and confirmed that yes, a Beyond Good and Evil 2 is in development. More than that in fact, the game has been secretly in development for the past year, with 12 staff working on pre-production for the game.

well, i did read somewhere that they had intended to make three games of BG&E. So they had plenty of oppertunity to put in stuff that would link to the upcoming games. And knowing those gamedesinger attention for quality, they have :)

This song is sung in the DomZ language, according to the game. If you listen closely, you can hear the vocals shouting "Shauni", the DomZ name for Jade.

@MythicGamer1 Actually, Beyond Good and Evil came out in 2003 in North America. Same year another Underappreciated game, Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy came out. Both games were fantastic, but didn't get the attention they deserved. Ironically, they released a day apart from each other (Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy came out first, Beyond Good and Evil followed the next day). I think both games didn't get that big of attention because it didn't look appealing to a lot of people.

This was one of the first games to come out for the PS2. the reason why it did so bad was because of advertising. Hell, I've been told by A LOT of people that this is a good game, yet I barely even heard about it. There were barely any commercials on TV about it, too! It was all about marketing. Still, it's good to know that they are making a sequel to the game...

Apparently after the game's price got knocked down people went out and bought it up like there was no tomorrow, the gamecube version in particular. It actually wound up doing alright, WHICH IS NOW WHY THERE IS GOING TO BE A SEQUEL! PIG EATING BEES! GAME OF THE YEAR!

Given that the original Beyond Good & Evil was such an utterly fantastic and under-rated game, this can only be good news, right? Well, yes, kind of. Unfortunately, Ancel has admitted that the bosses at Ubisoft haven't yet given the game the full go-ahead yet and the game is therefore still unconfirmed, though at least it's a confirmed unconfirmed though now.

I acually played Beyond G&E and The Longest Journey side by side, and prefered The Longest Journey. I've heard a lot of praise for BG&E, and I very much enjoyed it. Though it's not on my top favorite list. The music however is bleedin' fantastic!

Can somebody tell me the name of the beautfiful song that often plays during the game? The first time you hear it is when Jade and that Kids i sitting and looks at the sunset at the beginning of the game. I love that song so much so i hope there is a video with that song like this one here on youtube. Its really beautiful in the ending for the game. :)

@Ghaijinj truin but i think mostly people either use the pc or ps2. PC players should be able to get the music themselves from the computer. If you have PC there a program to rip the music from the game no prob.

happens to every game that doesn't initially sell well; it goes into the bargain bin. However, unlike other games, once BG&E hit that bin, word of mouth had spread and copies of the game sold like hotcakes. I don't know how the bargain bin works visa-vi dev's profits, but one thing was made clear: PEOPLE WOULD BUY THE SEQUEL~ PIG EATING BEES! GAME OF THE YEAR!
