It's a Memphis tradition dating back to the Elvis Presley days. In Memphis sports, the slamming and breaking of the guitar is a welcoming type celebration. Its basically love from the city to the players. It's most notably done by the Grizzlies and of course their Baseball team. Jaren did it the year before as well.
