The entire lyrics (of this song) is actually how they, the four of them express their dissatisfaction and frustration towards the entertainment industry in Hong Kong (during the period of the 90s), and they decided to moved to Japan to proceed their music career (solely just creating and playing music at by itself). This is song was created in Japan and it was actually the last song (EP) from Beyond. However, things doesn't went well in Japan, even in Japan itself, things doesn't seems working out as planned, being an "outsider", they still need to go through a series of the challenge to being accepted into the "entertainment industry". And unfortunately, the main vocal (Wong Ka-Kui) feel off from stage in a reality show, and went into a state of Coma for 6 days, and eventually died on the 30th June 1993 (at the age of 30). That's a short one to wrap up, and I wish everyone still loves him (then) and still loving their creation (the music that they created, they created most of the songs themselves). ❤️ Much love from 🇲🇾.

Ka Kui, the singer the leader of the band, passed away when he was 31 because of accident during the their concert in Japan. It was a pain for all of his fans including me. 😔

No. He didn't die from his concert. He was a game show on Japan when there was water in the ground, causing him to stumble and fall about 2.7m to the ground. Passed away from serious head injury

The lyrics of the song is more about the pursuit of freedom and ideal, the fear of falling in the journey, and the betrayal of the ideal due to hardship and changes in life. The 'you' and 'me' are referring to the audience and the singer. He's singing that even if everyone has betrayed the ideal, he won't even if only you and him are left. In a way, he's paying tribute to Nelson Mandela, who endured long prison and hardship, but steadfast in his pursuit of freedom and justice for his people. He had another song "Glorious Years" written explicitly dedicated to Nelson Mandela.

The lead singer of the Hong Kong band Beyond, Wong Ka-kui, was inspired by Mandela who was imprisoned for 27 years in a black jail. He wrote a poem for Mandela in 1990, and finally composed the classic song "Glory Years", which is great for Mandela. Tribute to a brilliant life. 原谅我今天 also has a really cool guitar solo at the end, even though it's a much lessen known song. While Ka Kui had the best vocal, the rest could also sing. 原谅我今天 was sung by Paul Wong.

i really love your reviews. always so precised and always so deep. I am from Hong Kong and this song reminds me a lot about our past... It is a timeless master piece and I am so glad that this song is still so "refreshing" in 2021. Every new accomplishment keeps the song alive and so as the band and their spirit. Music is absolutely universal that goes beyond language. I love it so much that you can feel the energy of the song even before reading the lyrics (which is in Cantonese). This particular song is really about the passion they chase for their ambitions. Kind of motivating to listen to when you are down. Great work dude. And i would love to see more from you to review many other famous Asian singers and songs. PS: the subtitle is using simplified chinese in which may be more appropriate in terms of promoting culture if you can use traditional chinese. cheers

I’m so glad that you liked this song. This is something really classic for someone who grew up in China so glad to see someone outside of China can also relates to its beauty. It’s not a love song though, it’s more about chasing freedom as a human being and the braveness to choose whatever path your heart desires, not matter what other people are saying.

I am so glad you love this song. I like your review!!!! I want to mention the lyrics is also very beautiful. I am very impress about the Cantonese lyricist. To write Cantonese lyrics is much more difficult then a lot of other languages. you have to consider the tone of the words first. Cantonese itself has 9 tone, 6 to consider when you are writing the lyrics. if you put a word in the tone that they don't belong then the song will not flow well.

There was a little misteak that the song doesn't talk about love,or not just talking about love. It's far more than love. If we have to use one word to explain it,i think that is "life". Most of us see the song as a Inspirational song. Have to say that Chinese is difficult to understand. Especially after translation, that is hard to understand the deep meaning behind it.XD. BTW:I think you'd better pay more attention to the song itself,but not the word of the it.
