Beyond Shadowgate -- Ending D

I couldn't find out anywhere the full list of instructions for getting Ending D in Beyond Shadowgate.
To get Ending D, you must not properly exorcise the spirit in Themeire Manor. You can bury the body in the graveyard, but you mustn't put salt on it. You'll know you're on the path to Ending D, and have closed off Ending B (the best ending), when you go to retrieve your belongings from the attic and find the Imp ("Cookie Monster") dead. If it is alive, you won't get the ending.
When you return to the Curio Shop in town at night, it will be glowing purple. Take the Skull Censer from it.
In Castle Shadowgate, the room where you would normally find the Sun Stone now has a Moon Stone. Take that.
In the Mirror Room, before you put the Gold Ring in the hole, you will see the sorcerer Lakimir reflected there. Case EDUO SPIRITUS to make him materialize, then kill him with the Scythe. And kill the bird, too, while you're at it. The censer will swallow Lakimir's soul and become a Soul Prison. Use the Moon Stone on it to make a Void Conduit.
At the big fight, take the Warlock's Staff, combine it with the Void Conduit to make a Void Staff, put that back in the hole. It will destroy Belezsarr. Then take the Void Staff and click on Talimar until you get your ending and bring sorrow, sadness and death to the world as a puppet of the spirit from Themeire Manor.

Glad you could get it! I have a question about just who that spirit was. I feel if I'd played the original game, I might know.

@@tipadaknife to my understanding, the figure in the mirrors/glass was representing one of the circle of 12. the ingame text refered to him as lakimir. lakimir is mentioned in the very beginning of the original NES (and also macintosh) game. they essentially sent you to the entrance of shadowgate where your adventure also begins. since the raven reacted very negatively to you killing the person (i am so bad with names. sorry) i would assume it was all caused by that unseen new force that was literally never seen or heard from before. the best i got about that is that "strike" the character hears in his mind. i would also guess that this person is the other druid that accompanied you with the raven, but i actually checked the glass/mirror images and it stated that it's a figure you don't recognize (before casting the spell and the ending route unfolding). so, as soon as you cast the spell you are essentially starting to be overtaken. which could also mean that the unseen force is also evil despite wanting to kill the warlock lord. also noteworthy how you actually pick up a skull-like item and combine it with the moon stone. your character essentially gets overtaken by a force, seemingly even stronger than the warlock-lord himself. worst of all is that it's most likely just an honest mistake because you, as the character didn't know what they were doing. it's been a while i played the original game, so please take that with a grain of salt :) also sorry if this is a mess to read. i suck really bad with on-the-spot theory and scripting that in a cohesive manner. thank you for reading.

@@N3Selina Lakmir I knew about. I meant the purple phantom in the mansion that, by not being permanently put to rest, goes on to possess you and bring about Ending D.

@@tipadaknife oh wait!! that's the phantom of the mansion? i did not even realize that! that might very well be yeah! since you get the moon stone ONLY if the red imp(?) dies! but no, the phantom, to my knowledge is new!

Congratulations on getting ending d, now that you have covered all of the endings, can you tell me how you would rank them from worst to best like well for del thornburrow to get and how it affects the world? Also if you encounter the dragon on the turret before freeing it, or on the mountain nest on the top of the mountain, if you attack the dragon will it kill you?

If you're on the Ending D path, you can find it in the curio shop. It won't be there in any of the other paths.

Meh. Obviously it's meant for fans of the NES aesthetic; it's not for everyone. But I had fun with it 🙂
