Great interview! I like hearing the more personal stories. It is also good that mental health is so much more talked about, especially from big, strong men. Mental health struggles have been looked down upon for so long and it is helpful for others to know they are not alone.

I have been following Loz and Liz for a number of years but I learned some fairly fundamental things about Loz I never knew before watching this video. Considering Loz’s past his career and abilities to train people and his insights are outstanding. I have a deeper appreciation for the Man he is. Loz saying the practice of perspective is a key to dealing with depression is 100% accurate for me. I have had depression and anxiety since my youth and at 60 years of age now perspective has been a huge benefit. The best I have done in my life is when I daily, even minute to minute practice perspective. I think part of why I follow Loz is his consistency in being alert, involved, and focused in his content he shares. This is a great podcast

It's funny how you follow someone and grow a liking to them. Hearing loz talk about his childhood. And how it was so so similar to mine after all this time of being such a big fan of his. And it just makes it feel like it all makes sense. People always ask you ohh why do you like this athlete and you always answer "idk it's just something about them" and then they tell a story and you realize wow we are so much more alike then I could ever have thought. big respect to loz. I have been following his beginning strongman program and will continue to support him threw merchandise and watching his content. Big respect.

What a great podcast. I remember a time when my ex complained to my sister that I jumped from job to job, but she reminded her that every job was better than the last. I did it to provide for my family and to get a job where I was happpy. I hate a job I'm not happy at. Be happy at what you do and who cares about the consequences

Was really excited for this because I have been really enjoying following Mitch's career, he seems to break stuff down in a way that is easier to digest. This was a brilliant interview, have followed Loz for ages and watch his stuff religiously but still managed to learn new things about him and hear him talk about subjects he hasn't covered before. Great stuff, something highly motivating about listening to Mitch and Loz together.

That was a great interview Mitch ! I didn't knew Laurence was the strongest ping pong player in the world. 😆 The fact you talked about depression and mental health really hit me deep. If it can help somebody, personally I've been struggling with depression my whole life since my teenage years. I'm glad I met a friend who introduced me to God (not religion). Yesterday I went for a walk and I was at a low point... I just opened my heart to God and told Him everything that pissed me off about life. Today, I'm more motivated than ever. I think sometimes we just need to let the pressure out and feel appreciated and listened. Even when we don't deserve it, my belief is that He will always be there for us when we need Him and reach out to Him. Mitch you are an inspiration for me. Looking at you motivates me to be in the best shape of my life. I truly appreciate what you bring to the strongmen community and I wish you the best in life. God bless you mate ! Thanks to you and Loz !

I will never do strongman. The reason I love the sport above all reasons. The personalities and the camaraderie between the athletes is beyond any sport I know of. I love it. The fact that this exists in the most "macho" of sports makes it even more beautiful. As a guy, I think it's extremely important to see other men act the way strongmen do. (generally speaking) I love the fact that Magnus will always be respected by current top strongmen, no one really cares that Rob is gay at all. Race and nationalism seem to mean nothing. Also I have never seen pro men in any sport do so much to help the womens side of the sport. They fucking deserve it too. If more people were fans of strongman I honestly think it would improve humanity overall. Oddly the Russia Ukraine thing hit me in a weird way due just to the fact that Shivlykov had always been so supportive of Novikov. =(

Awesome podcast/interview Mitch, really like the way you deliver it, it's so smart and subtle, much more of a calm and intellectual nature in strongman podcast (since both of you are really smart meticulous the way you guys saying things). And this is a really good dig dive to Uncle Loz. He never mention a lot about his personal life, and thank goodness you ask that really politely, makes him comfortable (although in my pov, he kinda already let go and okay with that heavy subject matter since that was in the thing in the past ... but still tho) and manage to make this more than a hour interview went really good. Thanks for the content

As someone who dealt with depression as well, I learned food can trigger and create. Sugars and high processed carbs have a huge negative effect on our bodies as most know but they also lower the quality and performance of our minds. I eliminated sugars a year ago and its been the most positive and happiest year of my 48 year old life. Seeing all the sweets and high carbs what a lot of you strongmen eat, I have to imagine if you guys don't burn it off fast enough, a lot of you guys probably experience a lot of days when you just don't feel right and start walking that fine line of depression?

With greater sport popularity and wealth NEEDS to be, on balance, greater athlete recognition and financial compensation. The fans are not coming to see Colin, Darren, and other management, yet they are the ones ruthlessly ruling the roost.

I haven't listened to this yet, but I remember that you said that you want to talk about things others don't do online. How about you talk about the steroid usage in strongman? It is so hard to find good information on what the top guys do in that department. It is also a huge topic that no one has tapped into yet. thoughts?

I just dont think its an interesting topic tbh, unless we're talking peptides for injury recovery and such, the more unknown and exotic subjects. all athletes use AAS, there's not much else to be said about it than that..
@vvoof26012 жыл бұрын
@@Nelarsen The thing is that while people like you and I know that steroid use runs rampant in all sports, the vast majority of people think they just work hard and eat well. Steroid use in sport needs to be openly discussed by as many athletes as possible.
@Nelarsen2 жыл бұрын
@@vvoof2601 To what end, exactly? I dont think its going to benefit anyone, the athletes nor the fans. I think its fine that those who know, know, and those who dont, have no reason to know. Eating well and working hard should be the priority for rookies to begin with - not knowing that their idols are actually pushing grams of anabolics a week is good IMO.
