Gene is the one who got me fell in love with beatboxing. Despite having known about it since i was very young, not unitl the first time I heard his "Home" showcase at Gbb16 that i believed beatboxing is music. It felt like true passion.

This just gave me another level of Respect for Gene. He’s right. Studying music is so institutionalized that it just removes your soul from being creative. Getting a degree for it isn’t worth it unless you want to be playing in an orchestral band. I’m glad that I’ll be changing my major to arts and entertainment management for next year. Hats off to you Gene for being a pioneer and an inspiration to everyone!! Wish we could have more of these interviews 😭

Your work has surely paid off and will be remembered for generations to come. You actually were pioneer in creating the melodic beatbox style which now beatboxers around the world imitate. The lipbass + melodic-arpeggiated voice technique almost got your name printed as intellectual property, at least within the realm of beatboxing. My point with this is not to put names on styles in an egotistical fashion but rather to remark how much you've done for this community already. Kudos for that.
