@eric.jerome Thanks! Glad you liked this, wasn't sure a boulder hunting sesh would be interesting to people, but it such a core part of outdoor climbing I wanted to try capturing it.

@ full disclosure I haven’t yet watched this episode, only have watched 2-3 of your videos. But the passion is apparent and the investment into the quality of the content in spite of a relatively small audience shows it’s a labor of love. Looking forward to watching more of the content but wanted to encourage you to continue regardless of viewership.

@eric.jerome Algo comment, thanks 😅 I've been doing this for 13 years. My goal is to share what I love. My target audience is the 5 people pushing the sport forward locally, and anyone else who wants to follow along with the process. Being a "youtuber" is antithetical to my values.

@giotto4321 thanks! Projects are an emotional roller coaster, starting from day 0 before they are even known. I am super looking forward to the crack line - it's in a spectacular location which is important factor for me because I spend so much time there over the course of a project.

Man, I’m so jealous of those massive granite boulders that seem to be everywhere in Nova Scotia. I absolutely love boulder hunting, it’s like treasure hunting. But living in France, every single piece of significant rock has already been discovered or climbed. The last untouched boulders here are way up in the alpine. Last time, I had to climb 2000+ feet in elevation just to find a couple of boulders 😅 Anyway, great video. Cheers from Annecy.
@Mobeta3 күн бұрын
@kochimoon4831 We are lucky, but I'm more inspired by you scouring the French Alps for new blocs. You are the first person who makes my exploring look not that hard-core 😅 The local culture that produced you is also why there are no boulders left, but I was fueled by baked goods from our Parisian bakery so the culture was with me in spirit 🙂

Hilarious you walked right by that massive boulder when you first left the boat! Can’t see 10 feet through our woods. And I find the Old Man’s Beard makes it hard to tell what’s a boulder between the trees and what’s just some lichen. Epic find!
@Mobeta3 күн бұрын
@TristanCleveland That's so often the way! The target you set out for is uninspiring, but you stumble upon the real gem by accident. Excession and Inversions both happened this way.

As a boulder hunter myself this was a thrilling video. 99% you found choss, but that 1% in fact represents a whole adventure (from almost breaking your ankles in holes to seeing wildlife up close) which makes it all worth it. I curious, in Sweden we have quite high definition aerial photos that we use for finding promising blocs or areas. Do you have something similiar in Canada or do you only go for drone and satellite?

Boulder hunting was great! Spent years developing and I can really relate to this video.

@averageandrew82 I still have to do the video where I get lost in the dark, fall in a stream, get rained on, and find nothing to really capture the full experience 😅
@averageandrew823 күн бұрын
@@Mobeta Absolutely! The experience is half the fun 😆 I remember crawling through some thick manzanita brush when developing one time. Went scouting, crawling was often easier than cutting. So I was down low and following a path of least resistance, I started to notice where I was crawling was very uniform in shape. Eventually, it led me to a large bed of leaves that clearly have been laid on by some type of large mountain cat. No doubt I was already being watched 😅 but I kept scouting the area ... with caution😂
