BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY: THE INCREDIBLE STORY OF INDIAN PEACEKEEPERS AT THE UN (30.27 Min.)

Over 1 million Indian men and women have served under the UN flag in more than 70 peace keeping operations. However, what is remarkable is that in the earlier years, peacekeeping was limited to maintaining ceasefires and stabilizing situations. Today, they are called upon not only to maintain peace and security but also protect civilians, disarm combatants, support elections in conflict zones and restore the rule of law.
The film spotlights the multi-dimensional role of the peacekeepers and India’s contribution to the organization over the years. India has contributed more troops to UN peacekeeping than any other country. And they have helped the local communities with a range of services. Currently more than 7000 Indian troops are deployed in 10 UN Peace keeping missions.
This is a story of their courage and dedication. Traveling four continents via helicopters, on foot and riverine patrols, we go to the most dangerous hotspots in the world to capture the untold story of the Indian peacekeeper’s struggle and sacrifice.

Co-incidentally, I happened to watch this video on the day when de-escalation at East Ladakh has started. It makes my heart swell with pride to see our forces touching so many hearts and excelling both as peacekeepers and as warriors, in any given situation and environment, across the globe. There are three comments which struck me the most in this documentary.....1. The Indian forces are large hearted. 2. The Indian Army is a people's army. 3. Indian Forces are found in the most inhospitable regions of the world. maybe india should pull back from these un missions, or at least from those places they get nothing out of. the un clearly does not value your contribution. india should make deals with those places were their army is, to keep peace keeping but also get first access to resources. it is the indian army, not the un army.

It hurts to know that a communist country like china is a permanent member of UN security council but world's largest democracy india is denied of this status even after providing loyal service to UN for long years . India is the only country in the world who have lost the highest number of bravehearts during UN peacekeeping missions. India solemnly deserves a permanent seat in UNSC. Proud to be an indian🇮🇳❤️
