In regards to your transmission noise, I will be upfront with you about this. The transmissions are weak on those cars. I would recommend that you do a drain and refill on the transmission and see if that helps any. That’s really about all you can do and who knows it’ll probably help. The other thing to check is motor & transmission mounts for wear. Oftentimes when those go out you’ll hear or feel a clunking on shifts. As for your heating issue, you probably have a clogged up heater core that needs to be flushed out. It’s not that bad a job to do. I recommend flushing out the heater core and probably the cooling system as well. But if that’s all that’s wrong with it and everything else checks out okay and it still runs good, then it should be a very good dependable car.

I still have my 08, creeping up to 300k, still runs smooth. Bought it in 2010, had about 28k then for 17g. Been on synthetic oil when I got it home. Have done some work, brakes of course, new struts and shocks all around, just changed out the clock spring, but other than that just normal maintenance its all its seen. Its an sxt, sun burst orange metallic, basically the same as you have there except mine has heated seats (live in Canada, kinda must have) and have a sun roof. Oh and if you get the water coming out of the trunk lid latch when you open the lid, the water gains access around the 3rd brake light (as in my case, as well the spoiler) there are 4 plugs one in each corner on the inside of the lid, remove them and it will allow the water to drain out and you won't get a shower every time after it rains or you wash the car (which I think you should have done before making the video)

Great deal, you really can’t complain about a car you can drive for free for two years because it sure has not deprecated from What you paid. As for the heat, you need to back flush the heater core. It would make a good video. Basically you pinch off (so you loose the least amount of coolest) the lines going to the heater core, and remove them. Put a clean heater hose on the core and run a garden hose through it both ways. This will clean it out and your heat will be hot again !

Nice looking car. I've heard of the Dodge Avenger. It's a shame that it wasn't *called* the Charger. I find its front end more attractive than that of the Charger. This looks like a car I would've preferred over the Dart Limited I drove for a couple of years. Since I never drove an Avenger, I don't know how much room there is. But there looks like there could be plenty of room between my head and the ceiling of the car. The Dart had a centre console with a slide forward and aft feature that made for a comfortable armrest, which I appreciated.

You're welcome. My Dart Ltd. was reliable in some areas, and a let-down in other areas. It had an awesome engine. Other than the usual oil changes and maintenance, it never let me down It had a Garmin nav. computer that helped in looking for places I rarely travel. Its seats themselves were comfortable. The let-down was the driver's side door that wouldn't unlock when you grab the door handle, and the trunk lid that wouldn't remain closed when you closed it. It also had no headroom whatsoever. That's probably due to the sunroof that came with the car. Other than that, it never left me stranded by the side of Hiwy 16 between Tacoma and Silverdale (Washington state).

@@hullinger I have a 2011 Avenger Mainstreet, 3.6L Pentastar, love it! A couple of years ago I started having heat problems. I flushed the heater core itself, then the entire coolant system, but what I really think the problem turned out to be was the thermostat. I replaced that during the flushing process, not too hard, one screw at the bottom sorta tricky. Before changing that, my temp gauge would only climb up to about the 25% mark. Afterwards though, it reaches just under 50%. Also, mine has climate control, which tends to force all airflow to the floor vents when the heat is turned all the way up. The air was mostly cold from down there, but when I controlled the heat manually (not in AUTO) and forced the heat out the dash vents, I actually got pretty good heat. Great Chrysler durability and plastic reliability LOL it’s not a Toyota and doesn’t holds its value like a Toyota 👍

It's a Dodge. Disappointing is their middle name.

No need to generalize, the new Dodges are fantastic cars. I rented a few Chargers and Durangos at my brother enterprise and I love them!

The only good Avenger is the one with 2.0 TDI VW Engine, inside its extremely cheap and typical Fiat/Dodge crap
@meowritz4 жыл бұрын
@Jonathan A Pretty sure that engine is the most reliable of them all, i dont know about gearboxes, most avengers are manual here

I wish we in the US had gotten diesel versions and especially manual transmissions.

@@hullinger I feel like alot of older american cars get bottlenecked by either slow or just bad automatic transmissions!

@Jonathan A Yeah correction its just stereotypical Dodge quality, but guess the price at the time explained it all

These cars were sold new to people who knew nothing about cars and cared even less. They also had bad judgment and never read consumer reports or did a Google search

Not so. I read all the reviews and bought one anyway. The negative reviews confirmed for me that the writers are fools.

Chrysler has always been bad, but I don't know if anything is worse than 2000s chrysler.

I gotta think the 2000's era Sebring might just be the worst of the worst.

Bought an 09 SXT 2.7L brand new. Worst vehicle I’ve ever owned. Money pit from the beginning. You’re right that 2.7L inexplicably paired with a 4 speed transmission is gutless...I’d call it anemic. Chrysler is junk and I’ll never own another. Been a Toyota owner since I unloaded the Avenger and haven’t regretted it.
