Just a piece of advice blow everything out and around before you pull your plugs because their could be dirt and debris that will fall into your cyl.

This is excellent! My mechanic quoted $120 for the plug replacement and $110 for the air and cabin air filters. Bosch plugs under $30 and $26.50 for both filters. This video and the one for changing the cabin filter saved more almost $175! BTW, I had to use lots of tape to keep from losing the spark plug socket. Thanks, Helping Hand.

@@acobbs9 no it didn’t, I actually got a P2004 code so I had to replace the intake manifold and I also replaced the ignition coils. My car only has 100k miles. Hope that helps!

I just changed plug on my 2007 Chrysler Sebring 2.4L. It fixed my hesitation issue. My plugs of 112000 miles were worn out badly. Torque @20 ft.lbs I used needle nose pliers to get my spark plug socket out. Nice Video 👍

I don't remember where I got it, but it's good for this job - basically a length of fairly stiff hose, enlarged at the upper end to form a handle, and sized to slip over and hold a spark plug at the lower end. This enables installing the plugs without dropping them into the holes, which could change the gap, and also enables starting the plugs into the head. A piece of 3/8 fuel line should work for this, too.

@@allenbrown7127 i had same problem until i replaced the battery, get a check done on your charging system, i reccomend a deka battery for that car, hope that helps.

@@allenbrown7127 one other thing i forgot to mention, make sure you change your upper radiator assembly every 50,000 miles, when you open your hood you will see your radiator hoses attached to a plastic connector with your radiator cap on it, that piece is JUNK! , it gets hot and then cold, hot and cold, over time it weakens the plastic and will break with no warning, i was on 95 in south florida and mine broke dumping my coolant all over the highway, the plastic flange that my radiator hose is clamped to snapped completely off, they sell both hoses and the plastic piece together, it's called the "upper radiator assembly" i payed 130 dollars at the dodge dealer, ive replaced mine 3 times.

Nice video, learned a couple of new things, ( tape around socket and extension). I'm no expert by any means, have done my Sebring, am 70 yrs. old and have never really worked on these newer cars, coil packs and such, so if I can do it, so can you! Like I said , I'm no expert, but I don't think it is a very good idea to drop your new plugs in the tube, a lot can go bad, ruin the spark plug threads or porcelain, ruin the plug threads on the block, etc I have seen another video on this procedure, and the guy on that video used rubber hose, I did too, glad I did, works great!!

Most modern cars have the fuel filters built into the pump within the fuel tank. They aren’t considered a “regular maintenance item” anymore.

Fuel filter is inside the gas tank. Like most modern cars. You don’t service them unless your fuel filter has failed. What evap code do you have?

Reticulating Splines Thanks! Honestly I don’t use it. I haven’t really had a spark plug put up a fight on its way out so haven’t had to justify using it. By all means if you have anti-seize available then use it. I leave it at your discretion. It’s one of those things that if you have some then go for it, but if not it’s ok.

mfvarnum58 You can use the grease or not. Entirely up to you. I have a big supply of it but even still, I forget to put some on sometimes. The coil packs aren’t considered regular maintenance items so change them as needed. Generally when misfires start occurring (higher mileage cars) or if you notice they are damaged (broken, cracked bodies, worn boots)

I did exactly what you did except I used NGK iridium plugs. It is missing and using a lot of gasoline. Any suggestions what did I do wrong? I checked at O’Reillys they said they are the right plugs. We scanned the motor but it is showing no codes. For the heck of it I also replaced the PVC valve but it is still missing. Usually if the PVC is open it can cause it to have a rough idle. But not in this case.

Lately I have noticed a very bad run of fake NGK plugs either coming from eBay or not. It has been hit or miss for me. Just put some in my neighbors 2016 accord. Misfired within 100 miles. Pulled them out and replaced them with denso plugs. If the car was running fine before and now it’s misfiring and stumbling, I would change plugs to a different company.

Just the plugs. If the misfire persists on the same cylinder after you change the plugs, then you should consider changing the coil pack. What you can do to help track down a bad coil pack is the swap the “allegedly” bad coil pack with another cylinder and then delete the codes And see if the misfire follows the bad coil pack.

TL;DR (scroll the last paragraph) Well, I will start by saying that not everything on the internet is entirety true 100% of the time. When you google ANY car related question like, “are Avenger transmission good?” The amount of negative results will most always outweigh the positive results. This is because people don’t post up when things are going great, they always post when things are failing or bad or they need help. It’s just the nature of the car world. That being said, I don’t see many avengers on the road in my area and of the handful that I have worked on, 2 of them had transmission problems while the others had overheating problems. If i had a choice, i wouldn’t buy the Avenger personally.

Hello! i have the same transmission on my 2013 dodge avenger sxt 2.4l 6 speed i have a problem with it while driving when i drive 30 miles and start braking and the transmission shifts shifts from 3rd gear to 2nd gear and at this point when it shifts at 20 miles i hear a thump Even when the car is stationary, it works, I try to switch gears from P-R-D, I hear kicking, and when I checked, the engine moves as if all the supports are broken, although the supports are in normal condition

Life of Marco Some oil will be normal. That’s being fed into the airbox through the PCV. Oil vapors are allowed to pass through that valve and then it gets burned off.

lance phelps A misfire can also be caused by a faulty injector. You can try swapping them to see if the misfire follows that injector. If it does then replace the injector. If it still stays on the same cylinder then you need to do a compression test.

Ronnie Mund it is inside the gas tank attached to the fuel pump. It’s not normally a serviced item until the pump has failed. Certainly you can take it out and replace it if you would like.

Dragonstorm81 OE plugs are platinum. They are pre gapped. Don’t try to gap them you will ruin the tip.

There are machines that can suck out the fluid from the dipstick and then refill the transmission. They are expensive and I don’t usually do those often. You would be better off taking it to a shop that can do that.

@TroyP20 if you want, you could drain the fluid through the pan and if there is a filter to replace (not 100% sure) then replace the filter and put on a new gasket and then refill whatever came out when you drained it. This is a typical transmission service for most any car. This will get at least 3-5 qts of fluid out and changed with new fluid.

I was so pissed bc I changed the filter, got the red clips off and wasnt strong enough to get the screws off. So had to put everything bck together and gave up. So car is still sitting.. I also need to do my throttle body; which im probably not strong enough to do that either! Any thoughts?

Wendy Lucas Wd-40 or pb blaster will aid in loosening up the bolts/screws. If you’re not strong enough you should invest in a breaker bar that is long enough to give you the leverage you need to break the bolts free. They come various lengths.

I had the same problem on my 2011 avenger, clean the neck of the filler and spread a little oil from your dipstick on the gas cap rubber gasket and drive for about a week. If that doesn't work you may need a new gas cap like I ended up getting.

That happened to me a few weeks ago. It was an evap code. The Evaporative Emissions System Leak Detection Pump was damaged and had to be replaced. You can see it under the back left tire. It is attached to the black vapor canister. The cost to repair was $325.00 at local shop. PepBoys told me my hose collapsed and tried to charge me over $600.00. The part itself is like $40.00. I had the gascap message too on the dash but changed the gascap first and check engine light came back on after resetting it.

Torque socket? I assume you mean spark plug socket? If so it’s a 5/8” spark plug socket.

4CYL Dodge Journey is same.. DONT FORGET THE PCV VALVE at 9:45 PS: 3:30 that engine cover had a recall and that is because they can come off while driving! they add a bolt to it to hold it down.. should take it to Dodge and get it done

Rubber boots on mine dont want to come off with the coil pack. Surprised his came off so easily but it looks awful clean under that plastic cover so I'm guessing he had already removed and reinstalled for this video.

keisha allen Definitely NOT a big issue. This happens very frequently honestly. Ask any mechanic, they have come across many broken clips every now and again. The plastic gets very brittle over time, it just happens. The clips still plug back into place without issues. You’re good to go!

keisha allen You need to make sure that the one clip that broke is seated all the way onto the coil pack. This obviously will cause a misfire condition. If the car was misfiring before replacing the spark plugs and now it’s worse, there is a possibility that the coil pack itself is bad as well. You would need to have the code scanned and see what it says.

@@HelpingHandAutoRepair here how it started I took it to auto zone they said the altinator was pushing out the correct voltage but my battery was at 16% it wassnt charging so I bought a battery put it in myself once I found it lol.... took me 3 hours ran fine next couple days yesterday got off work it shut off in the parking lot... no engine lite til I started it back up and tried to get home it does several times the steering even got hard... I made it home parked it googled and figure I look into the spark plugs changed those it got worse auto zone sold me the wrong ones because their are 2 engine types the EDG and whatever the other one is... but the mechanic came out and it's driving wayyyyy better and starting up good too.... next I have to change the wateroutlet it's got a small leak... but this will be my last dodge lol I wrecked my head over this one
