@@Mr._Ultracool I think that just confuses them and a lot of them if they do have eyes they are pretty adaptable eyes so they won’t get blind

It is nowhere near as harmful as Active Sonar pings from navy vessels. These mapping sonars point at the sea floor and come back up, whereas active sonar points ahead of the vessel for miles.

feels like you can make an incremental game to simulate how this all works, with upgrades for the ships (USVs and ROVs etc) as the player attempts to hit 100% mapping at ever higher resolutions; while managing resources from donors and grants xD

I love topo maps. I know it’s not practical & don’t have unlimited time or budgets, but those widely spaced mapped strips with big chunks missing is sooo frustrating. Someday maybe Drixx will do it. Well done guys & gals.

Imagine if we could afford to install multibeam sensors on all ocean-going craft and data beamed to a central computer,... we'd have a majority of the ocean bed mapped in no time and updated regularly!
