@@WTfire10 With the environmental movements getting out of their wheelhouses (such as conservation) and restricting energy production itself, I'm starting to think you may be right. People have this insane idea that technology is this magic thing that doesn't depend on energy, but without modern energy, a multi-speed bicycle would still be the epitome of technology. ...and considering that, even in the United States, energy production, per-person is going _down,_ there is no way we are going anywhere. Even 'green energy' _production_ makes this problem worse as it burns, overall *_more_* traditional fuels on the back end, while providing even _less_ useable energy at its front end/output. (I as compared to just burning that fuel outright. Its a sad thing.)

Unfortunately I have to leave this area. I studied Oceanography in college, and did quite well in it - including a sailing exhibition related to underwater mapping, a subject I was engrossed in during my time in school. To live on this coast, first in the Channel Islands, and now here in Monterey Bay was a blessing. I will try to teach my grandson as much as I can about this beautiful planet we live on, and focus as much as possible on Oceanography. The ocean is still such a vast place, and so little explored. Thank you MBARI. I just flat love you guys, and I'll miss this beautiful place.

@Geralt of rivia approves this message There a lot of mistakes in nature lmao, we are far from achieving the peak evolutionary form. Humans for example breath and eat through the same tube, so when we choke we die without air, we could have two tubes, one for breathing and other for eating. I believe in evolution, although I also believe there are a lot of mistakes that needs to be fixed and will be eventually, but no being is perfect and they all have flaws

@Geralt of rivia approves this message Perfectly designed? I think you forgot about a number of human and general mammalian design flaws... - a pelvis that makes childbirth difficult and sometimes deadly - a poorly designed eye that places tissue in front of the light receptor cells - vestigial organs and features that can lead to complications (e.g. appendix, wisdom teeth, etc.) and more. If you'd like to learn more about macroevolution, you should really take that up with an evolutionary biologist. I'm sure they'd love to discuss modern theories on the matter. Religion has very little to do with accepting modern science-you just choose to remain ignorant of what doesn't align with your views.
