As part of Vizcaya Late's Pride Edition, Beyond VIzcaya is honored to host a livestream panel discussion between Julio Capo Jr., Vizcaya's Scholar in Residence, and panel guests: Dr. Sarah Pawlicki, Joseph Zolobczuk, MS Ed, and Dr. Robin Bachin.
Join us on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at 4 PM EST, as the panel discuss the best practice to recognize and interpret people in Deering’s social circles connected to Vizcaya’s history, who were and were not openly gay. As well as how spaces like Vizcaya can support community members without running the risk of tokenizing.

I thought this was supposed to discuss some of the openly gay and not openly gay people in Deering’s social circles at Vizcaya? I didn’t hear much mention of that really. Seemed to be more of a generic panel discussion with little historical discussion of what went on at Vizcaya. Nothing wrong with that, but i was just a bit disappointed as i expected to hear more actual stories based on the historical research. History buff here as well!
