I’m a retired, navy nurse, the thing you’re also not mentioning is medical. When the president goes anywhere, a full medical detail has to scout out the area in advance. Ensuring hospitals contain an ICU, all the necessary life support systems in the event of a catastrophic event. This occurs not just internationally but nationally as well advance scout groups visit each hospital near the intended itinerary to assess the route to get there, the facilities and the support team to manage a medical emergency emergency.

True about medical logistics. I found out that a friend of mine, an EMT, was able to get Yankee White clearance and was in the ambulance following President Clinton when he visited St. Louis. After 20+ years he was able to say where he was after things are declassified.

Our aircraft crew loadmaster was underneath it chaining it down to the cargo floor and thought it would be cool to put one of our squadron emblem stickers on the bottom of it. A week later the entire crew was called in to the squadron commanders office for an a** chewing. Seems he got a visit from the Secret Service about it and they werent very happy.

Although the chasis and structural frames are old design, it doesn’t reduce its lethality when new lethal equipment are added. Actually its a new factory made tank. The Russians are building weapons for the battlefield, not for the showrooms, like the West. That's a western marketing strategy. Russian tanks are for the most part backward and forward compatible. Even the location of controls are mostly at the same location. Thats the reason why it only take less than an hour of training their tankers need to familiarize themselves with the new tanks. And Russia have thousands of mechanics and engineers to service their tanks, vehicles and equipment. On last count, there were 270 motor pools throughout the lenght of the frontline servicing all of their vehicles and weapons. They can even assemble a tank out of salvage parts in 48 hours. NATO doesn't have that capability. The reason being is compatibility issues. Abrams hardwares are not compatible with Leopards and Challenger. They have to be shipped back to another country, hundreds of miles away, just for repair. You just hope that the Russians don't target the trains and the trucks that haul them. Think about this. How did Russia haul those Western tanks and IFV's to their museum in Moscow from the battlefield? In just a few days. Dude, if your enemy have that capability, you will have a tough time fighting them. The first thing they'll do is destroy all of your vehicles, heavy weapons, infrastructures, and command centers and depots. That will leave your soldiers seating ducks. Thats what happened to Ukraine. In conclusion, Russia is getting efficient and flexible in the battlefield, and they are encreasing their kill ratio everyday. My hyperbolic hypothesis. Just saying.

But you are missing some of the obverse side of the proverbial coin. NATO does have standardized ammunition and weapons systems such as the 7.62 mm and 5.56 NATO shells. Also the Russian "dummy proofing" methods have their draw backs as well. The common problem of where their autoloading system stores and loads shells means that vulnerability is targeted to great effect and when hit, the internal ammo stored is set off and this commonly blows the tank turret sky high and makes it almost a sure death for all tank crews. They are not given much training both because of their simplicity but also because training costs money in fuel, ammo, and time. Once killed, the crews are no longer available for duty except as coffin occupants. The Western tanks value their crews much more for many reasons. The investment in trained crews are retained when they survive and can be used in another tank. Russians in battle still retain a lot of their mass wave tactics that are vulnerable to a DECREASING population!! Finally, while I visited Russia two times and love and admire Russia, its current leader cares about his wealth, power, and prestige. He is a killer and not to be ignored. But, he is not to be feared either!! He should be met with smart, tough, leadership so that Russia is treated fairly and with respect, but not with appeasement for his lies such as told the FIRST TIME he invaded Ukraine in 2014!!. Obama did nothing but tough talked him and offered the Ukrainians NON-LETHAL AID such as MREs and medical supplies!! Great job, Dummy!! Let him walk in and takeover the most prized part of Ukraine without supporting Ukraine!! Meanwhile President Poroshenko sought help and got crappy assistance in later years after Yanukoyvich was EJECTED by the Ukrainian people who wanted western Europe integration and benefits like POLAND, and Romania got!! Putin to keep Ukraine in the Russian sphere of influence and control.
