@Martin-mt3wz it’s been the White House for a couple of years. Maybe 100. I think it was called something like the Executive House. I believe T. Roosevelt changed it to the White House because it’s painted white. At various times in history, the White House has been known as the "President's Palace," the "President's House," and the "Executive Mansion." President Theodore Roosevelt officially gave the White House its current name in 1901. Presidential Firsts while in office... I was close

Back in the early 1990s, I used to work in Washington DC as a lead Computer Technician, for the largest supplier of AT-style computers to the DC area. Every day, the business that I worked for ran a full-page advertisement in the _Washington_ _Post._ Back at that time, work had just started on what would eventually become the Holocaust Museum. As a construction site goes, the Holocaust Museum construction site had to be one of the strangest construction sites that I ever saw. All around it, there was a chain link fence, but inside the fence, the entire site was actually A PIT that was "dug down" nearly 4-stories deep. In fact, while construction was in-progess, the local Washington DC news reported that a full-grown tree, which happened to be right on the fence "line", toppled over and fell into the pit. Whenever I would walk by the construction site, I always suspected that the DEEP pit was eventually going to connect with a network of concealed, underground tunnels, and that the Holocaust Museum was actually just a "cover story" for creating a network of hidden, underground tunnels. IF such a tunnel network exists, beneath the Holocaust Museum, then I suspect that the tunnels connect with the White House. Keep in mind, I am just guessing.

While I cannot confirm the existence of underground bunkers, there is, an awesome underground railway system, that connects many buildings, including the White House. It's used to transport government workers, unaffected by traffic above ground.

Back in the 1980s, and earlier, you could literally walk up to the White House and get a tour. The entrance was at the East Wing, and you'd go through airport style security. Obviously there was usually a bit of a wait. But you would get a tour of the lower levels of the main residence, including the Red Room, Blue Room, Green Room, the State Dining Room, and the East Room. You'd exit through the main corridor and the main front entrance. I did this as a teenager in 1987 when I was in Washington, DC with a church group. While we didn't see him, Ronald Reagan had come back to the White House in his limo, and took the elevator up to the private residence while we were on the tour.

During the George W Bush administration and the Obama administration the entire city of D.C. was dug up. Many streets were closed and they built walls and ceilings hiding the excavation. In press briefings you saw a mountain of dirt higher than the WH but no one was allowed to talk about it. Obama said it was " Utility Upgrades " The Lincoln Memorial sank and the company they hired to fix it used ground penetration radar and said there was a huge hole 200 feet underneath the park and running in multiple directions. The M2 is the secret VIP high speed trains to evacuate the white house and Congress and the SC out of the city But the new tunnels and bunkers are much deeper and run to the Pentagon and a special elevated train station that is not accessible from anywhere except the exit of the tunnels No one knows what it is for. I saw photos from JFK in the Situation Room and the installation of the computers and this was the most incredible thing I've seen because they had stand alone networked XT computers. They didn't say IBM, but they were XT style computers 20 years before they were available to the public. When Hilary Clinton was running for senator the SS had smart phones and this was 20 years before they were available to the public. They actually had a special tractor trailer that had an antenna tower and satellite truck and they had their own cellular network for the smart phones. I worked for a Media company that owned a lot of stations and one of our towers was down a long road and I had to go reset our transmitter and I saw all the military vehicles and the tractor trailer and the satellite truck. It was a huge operation. Each person they talked to they entered the name of the person in the smart phones and people were talking about these amazing devices. Our government has technology that is at least 20 years ahead of what we can buy. I recently saw an all mode scanner that had 1000 channels and was full coverage from .1 mhz to 1 GHz It was made in Japan in 1980. Here in America we had 10 channel crystal scanners This Japan scanner did AM FM NFM SNFM WFM USB LSB It didn't do trunking because that didn't exist till the late 80s, but we didn't have a scanner in America till 1995 that compared to this one. In Korea and China they have scanners that do everything the 1200 dollar Uniden scanner does for 100 dollars. The Baoefeng radios for 20 dollars do the same and more than the 800 dollar Icom and Yaseu The 15,000 Motorola radio costs less than 100 dollars to make I saw a video from a sneaker factory that was looking for clients. They made sneakers for 2 box stores and a global powerhouse sneaker company and generic sneakers and they are all made using the same material. You can buy a pair of the generic sneakers for 5 dollars. The box stores they sell for 17.00 dollars The mega corporation sells the same sneakers for 2300.00 dollars Corporate greed is sickening A person who has a disease that requires pills that cost 30,000 dollars a month, he went to the county that makes the pills for the drug company they told him they can make them for a penny a piece. They gave him a bag of free samples of the pills. 30,000,000 dollars worth of pills that cost them 10 dollars to make. A lifetime supply. So many other countries are able to get much more than we can get in America for a lot cheaper. The big radio companies like Motorola and Kenwood fought lobbying Congress to ban the Chinese radios. Before they were allowed to be sold in America, very few people could afford to own a ham radio. 800 dollars is a whole months pay. Now, a lot of new hams are getting in the hobby because they can afford 20 dollars.

I’ve visited the White House 8 times. Each visit just as exciting as the first. I was given a private tour once when an ex boyfriend of mine was working for a former administration. The congressional tours begin quite early in the morning and you have to arrive around 8 a.m.. When you enter the East Wing, it’s somewhat equal to going through airport security. You walk along a colonnade until you reach the doors that actually enter the ground floor of the mansion. You’ll get to peek into various rooms and see various paintings of former First Ladies. Then you’ll walk up a flight of stairs, turn to your right and you’ll be in the famous East Room where dinners and entertainment take place. In this room you’ll see the oldest object in the White House, the famous painting of George Washington that Dolly Madison saved as the British were approaching to burn the mansion in 1812. My favorite room in the White House is the beautiful Green Room. I’ve always admired the coffee urn sitting in the middle of a table. The first time you visit, you’ll realize you’re actually in the White House, and think of all the history that took place here. I’ve always thought as I stood in the middle of the Cross Hall, looking left to right, that it isn’t really that large a place. As I’ve left through the North doors, I didn’t want to leave, I’ve always wanted to see more. I’ve always wished I could attend a state dinner.

If i were to design myself a bunker I'd want an escape route out of the bunker, I bet they planned for this, If the above ground got destroyed and could no longer get out that way, either a road underground or railway going away to somewhere to get out, probably even multiple exits for recon or just encase the bunker gets cracked and radiation leaked into it, or blasts knocked out too much of the air filtration or power generators and it became unviable to stay there and had to be abandoned.
