Gotta say, I love y’all’s channel - found GITB a few weeks ago, followed y’all here. Funny how such an uptight place as Japan can produce and spark such massive reactions to KID’S SHOWS (cartoons, y’all, and still largely TV14 (and different culture entirely)) - and that a supposedly hip place like the USA can have so many problems with it and about it. We’re not just weird about skin color - we’re weird about *SKIN*. We get hung up on the “age” of this drawing or that, and we miss the fact that the confusions, struggles and mysteries of puberty never really go away, and maybe a lucky few graduate to adulthood with all that behind them while the rest of us just make do…but what challenges me about the ‘can’t watch that in public’ stuff is the contrast between how I made it thru adolescence and how those same developmental storms play out in these stories. I don’t WANT to watch most anime ‘in public’…it’s not so much private as it is personal, the way I respond to the stories and how they’re told. That’s my space, I don’t do that in public, like a lot of other things. I’m still ‘new’ to all this, I dipped in here and there over the years - Captain Harlock, Evangelion, Ghost in the Shell, FLCL - but only really began *watching* in the last couple years. Since Covid hit, I’ve been on anime overdrive. Finding your crew is terrific, y’all are smart, funny, and interesting. Subscribed.

I once happened upon Keijo!!! by complete accident. I had never watched a sports themed anime and had no intention of doing so, even then but I love me some ecchi so I gave it a blind try. In the first episode, we are introduced to the main protag, Nozomi Kaminashi whose main move is the Vacuum Butt Canon. After I learned that, I HAD to watch the rest just to see how stupid it got. The plot was so transparent, it never once surprised me and yet I found myself laughing out loud at least once each episode. I later read that people in Europe (Portugal if I'm remembering it right) tried to make a real Keijo!!! sport but A) it never really caught on and B) the moves in the anime were just too outlandish. It's almost embarrassing to say I watched all of Keijo!!! but it was surprisingly fun. No, I wouldn't watch it in public. Btw, when the title Redo of Healer came on my screen I was like, Brah! No F'n way! Yes, I watch it.... late at night after my kiddo is fast asleep. No, I'm not proud admitting I watch it! LOL

So... what made me pause this video was surprisingly not the multidimensional ass attack summoning by that show's Kakashi analoge. No, it was prior to that when a girl in a harlequin mask and cape walked out then whipped out the joker from between her ass cheeks and presented it like a calling card. I recall thinking when Keijo! came out it was absurd enough that I might have to watch it if only to see how ridiculous it could get. I still have not done so, but now I have to know. So what's our next challenge for volume 7?
