Timelapse with slider and pan tilt motors can be very beautiful. Today I'm reviewing my favourite motion control system so far - Syrp Genie II with two Genie Mini II.

Could you provide a little info on your rails? I'd love to use something cheaper than the syrp rails!

Honestly the price of Genie II linear is just crazy and not justified. 930€ only for linear slide movement??? Then you have to add around 500€ for pan and tilt motors, 100€ for the L bracket and then you still have to buy the slider itself...at the end you have a total expense of almost 2000€. I find much more efficient to put a DJI RS 2 on a compatible slider in order to get the 3 axis movement that is perfectly synchronized with the slider. You're going to spend around 1200/1300€ depending on the slider you choose, but with this solution you also have a gimbal and not only a time-lapse motion control system. PS: this is not a critique to you, I totally love your content! I just think the prices of this "relatively simple" gear are very unfair.

I use a similar setup but with the Genie II Pan/Tilt head and the Syrp carbon fibre track. It’s not the cheapest system out there but I agree on the benefits of having such a portable and modular system. Thanks for your review. I’ll probably do one too some time in the future

This is the best review of Syrp's motion control gear, most of the others seem to only cover use of a single Genie II or are very light on detail like a sales brochure. Well done on producing something time-lapsers are actually looking for in a product review. I'm currently looking to step up from using cheap 80cm slider as I want something easy to transport, capable of much longer travel than 80cm, keyframes and vertical movement. Currently looking at the same Syrp gear reviewed here with the addition of the Syrp Carbon Fibre Magic Carpet. Thing that is making me hesitant is the phone app. If you look at the reviews on Google Play Store there seem to be a lot of people reporting the app crashing or one of the Genie units freezing or loosing connection (losing all keyframes in the process). In my view there is no point in spending the sort of money Syrp is asking unless it is 100% reliable, and that includes the software (as that is the only way to operate these units). Just wondering what you're experiencing had been with reliability of this system? Has it ever failed you, if so in what way? Thanks so much for producing this content. Subscribed.

thanks for posting this, it helps a lot. I notice you use the tilt platform in some of your shots, do you find it supports the weight of the brackets and genie's and camera well, or do you find that it cres down?

What is the name of flipping mount on top of Genie Linear to get the angles? Maybe a link to buy?

It's syrp product called tilt platform I believe. It's on their website. It's quite pricey, but very well made.

Why do you prefer an eternal intervalometer over the built in one in Sony cameras?

You can't do a proper holy grail timelapse with manual exposure change with buil in intervalometer. I think you can change iso and shutter speed but you cannot change aperture, which is very anoying limitation. Also, it's not that fast to setup, however I could get used to that. Overall it's good to have, but for someone like me, who need very fast and reliable intervalometer that is easy to use and let me to everything, it just doesn't work for every situation.
