Y'all got to stop comparing to 2019. It was an outlier in box office numbers. It had two finales to massive franchises as well as the much anticipated third Spider-Man movie. The assumed finale of a beloved children's movie series in Toy Story 4. And the hotly anticipated and Lion King remake and Frozen sequel. The box office was never going to reach those numbers in 2020 even if the pandemic didn't happen.
@greygorygaming14 күн бұрын

Here in Mexico people don’t want to go to the standard multiplex anymore. I have so many experiences now, that I encourage my friends, my dad, my mother, to go to the traditional screens, and we end up having a pretty bad experience, except for Wicked, the only time that my dad has been elated by a movie and I’ve seen him having so much fun. 2:26 I was just telling someone the other day that even Disney takes losses, they will still come out on top in the end. They tried to argue with me that this year will be rough for them but with Avatar 3 alone bringing in 2+ billion, Zootopia 2 likely being another billion, an MCU movie being a billion or all 3 movies combined, and Lilo & Stitch possibly joining the club, I don't think so. That's 4 billion locked, plus some. They're going to do just fine.
@crestedargo466315 күн бұрын
Agree, Disney will have a very interesting year: Snow White will flop hard, Cap 4 and Thunderbolts could underperform, but some of their movies will be extremely successful. Not so sure about Lilo & Stitch making 1 billion, though

I mean 2024 box office isn’t over yet, mufasa could still get in the top 10 and Moana 2 could get a billion
@crestedargo466315 күн бұрын
Moana 2 will get for sure to 1 billion and Mufasa to at least 650 million worldwide, but it depends on how precisely you want to calc box office: if we want to be very accurate, the money that is being made in 2025 by movies released in 2024 should be part of the 2025 yearly box office. Thus, under this premises, 2024 box office is indeed "closed"
@macefire14 күн бұрын
Mufasa is in the 10 ten for 2024. It's number 9.
@crestedargo466313 күн бұрын
@@macefire No, worldwide it was at number 11 as of the 31st of December's, behind Venom 3 and YOLO. Now it has surpassed them, but thanks to money made in 2025, not in 2024. Domestically Mufasa still hasn't cracked the top 11, although it should end its run at number 9 or 10, if money made in 2025 is taken into account. However, the most correct way to analyse box office is considering just revenue made in theaters in 2024 for the yearly 2024 final numbers. I mean, this is how we do it when it comes to fiscal rules...

@@dariuschisholm7317 It's hard to describe. That's also why I put it in quotation marks. The scenes that were shown in the videos on KZbin about the people coming together before or after they chased the storms had this American rural small town feeling about it, but not in an inviting way. I felt kind of excluded from that. To Americans this may feel homely and familiar, to me it made me feel like an outsider. Hard to say what exactly it was. It felt like someone was making a joke that required a certain cultural background to understand, and you do not have this background and have no idea what this joke is about, while everyone around you is laughing.
@Tinkerbe1113 күн бұрын
@@mae64khlo I don't think it's that. I have seen movies and shows set in small towns, which I loved. In Stramger Things I didn't like the excursions to the cities that much, I preferred when they stayed in their small town, and I did not feel like an outsider in that. The small town there was more relatable. But in Twisters it was not. And I probably would have watched the movie anyway, if there were not that many other movies at the same time, and I may have liked the world in it better, if explored with one of the characters. .
