The problem is if you merge with a spitfire and dive to gain energy 3/4 of players will point their nose straight at you and chase you into the dive. And at that distance they can easily kill you before any sort of merge.

Had an American spit chase me all the way up to 10 km, I didn’t turn just to see how long he would try to catch up. If you watch closely, he wasn't after thrust, since he even switched off power. His goal was to loop over using "controlled" stall, something I can never do right.

Yesterday, I got a very interesting situation in my K4 against first Spitfire Griffon. We met each other in high altitude, like 5.5k meters both flying approximately even, so I thought i should be in advantage, i dive a bit to gain some speed and he actually tried to headon me, I avoided, then went full vertical, he did the same, we came on the top facing each other, I realied he can easily keep up with me so i disengaged and tried to gain some speed, he got on my 6 so quick in distance like 600 meters but i was slowly getting away from him. I am myself a spitfire player, So i thoguht his hispanos shoulden't hurt me that much, than I got one tapped pilot sniped and payed my 17k SL full repair. Sad fact, I am simply no match for spitfires in this plane. Only chance is get above em or somehow force them to make mistake, god the spit is an asome aircraft.

After the avoided headon you should have climbed at 60 degrees angle and then, after you reached 210km/h put prop pitch at 60% and then go full vertical. Don’t try to recover earlier go full vertical until you stall. If you and the spitfire started at around the same energy he won’t be able to follow that. If u meet each other at the same altitude and both of you are climbing at 290km/h IAS when u are within 2 kms stop climbing and start gaining some speed. After the merge he must get at higher speeds to try to be behind you and pop a couple of shots.

Stealth Spider Personally I fly the Me 163 in RB like a Bf 109 in Arcade, just keep in mind that the wings will rip at ~12G turns. The absolutely mad acceleration and high speed maneuverability can be exploited so well that you can give Hunters a run for their money. Just remember to RTB when the fuel starts running low (around 1 min left).

In every 109 I’ve ever played, the roll rate sometimes just konks out, and the roll rate stop working entirely It usually happens when I’m in any sort of vertical or energy maneuver. You can see the problem Have you experienced this problem? Any tips on how to negate it?

use rudder if you need to give it a little kick at low speeds, in the direction you want to go. its sensitive so, for instance if you need to roll left after a vertical maneuver, hold left on your ailerons and tap the rudder left aswell, you should roll pretty quick

If you mean they also dive to pick up speed and follow you in the vertical, then you dont want to go straight up. Use the speed to climb around 30 degrees away from them like he does at 4:50. That way if they want to chase you they will have to turn around which will cost them energy. Also as he says in the description, don't do this at low alt where most Spitfires outperform you. If you mean they are spraying you in the merge and it becomes a head on or you know this guy is very trigger happy and will follow you up for the kill: when youre a few KM away go into a slight dive to build up speed and head to their left or thier right by 30 or 45 degrees from their nose, when the get closer, pull up and climb in a gradual spiral while theyre going straight vertical to try to get lead. If they want to kill you, they will have to turn and climb which completely kills their energy and you can hammerhead onto them when they are stalled out (DONT DO THIS IF THEY HAVE MORE ENERGY THAN YOU)

I played the hell out of this game back when it was birds of steel back on the 360. It had another name for PC. Just started playing war thunder and I find inputting control into the rudder a nightmare. Pitch and roll no problem. Is there a way to make the rudder more smooth? Like a different control mode? Never had this issue with birds of steel.

I find pure BnZ flying boring and dont fly K-4 often and i have Problems flying Bf109G-14/G-10 and K-4 only 4 kills for every loss but when flying Spits LF MkIX or Griffons Mk XIV/VIIIe in 8 from 10 cases i can reverse outmanouvre and kill the K-4s in an engagement when they didnt have much more energy/altitude then me, when i was killed by K-4 it was mostly because i had to fight vs 2 of them alone. Advice from a Spitfan retreat when K-4s have much more altitude or lure them down to the deck or near other blue players F2G-1 ect., 109K-4s have Rudderlocks at high speed dive and you can easily turn into a K-4 when they are stiff some even ram into ground, down on the deck they are easy pickings for LF MkIX and a bit higher for the Griffons, nearly every lone K-4 abit lower or with same energy against my Spits is 95% dead and back in hangar. I fear G.55S, G.56 and Re.2005 much more then K-4.

Hey, I suggest you watch a video dedicated to it. You can set it up in manual engine controls under realistic controls. It allows you to manually adjust angle of a propeller, which can help you climb by allowing propeller having a better contact with air, or help you to slow down by lowering its pitch and thus using your propeller as an airbrake to get behind your enemies 6. Also, it is vital to lower your prop when you engine dies, which can help you to glide further. This is called "feathering". Note, there are differences between aircraft's and some have its propeller pitch tied to engine's RPM, which may result in you braking the engine by "over-reving" it.

K/d back when 109s could barely hit 6gs: 0.80 K/D When mk108 sparking was significantly reduced: 1.4 K/D when flight performance was tweaked to be more competitive: 1.8 lol. Everytime I hear someone say the 109s are shit I just laugh. Its one of my most successful planes

If he could catch you did something wrong. He probably looped downwards, gained speed and followed you. If something like this happens, use your supirior dive to get the control over the engagement back. If your opponent in the spit commits to that dive you can outrun him and get the advantage by climbing. After that he should be all yours

Hey man. I have the same issues with ping as you. 200-250 was the norm for me so I get you. What I did was I figured out what servers gave me the best ping, and I stuck to that. For me it was the EU server. Any ping above 220 was not worth playing, especially with low velocity German cannons and fortunately the EU server gave me about 190. It’s the only server I chose now and my kills have been much easier to get. A single burst is enough. Also I switched entirely to stealth. Doesn’t alert the enemy and gives you time to adjust your aim. Aiming ahead and letting them walk into your fire stream is the classic method to get easy kills. Give stealth and playing exclusively on your best ping server a shot.

That's the War Thunder sad reality, who climbs higher wins in like 90% of all scenarios. I would personaly prefer a game mode, where both teams spawn like 5-10km from each other, bombers would spawn in mid high alt, all fighters in high alt and than the main goal is to protect the bombers till they reach the target, it would be much more realistic, much more fun and it would prevent the jerks from space climbing.

The spitfire isn't unbeatable either, like in the past, I remember ppl had no clue how to fly bf 109, they actually tried to turnfight me horizontal like 1km above the ground. That was what i found most fun about this plane. Today I am meeting much more expirienced players, not necessarily excellent players but just guys who know the stuff. If I meet them alone, its usually a long duel, if I meet 2 or more of em, and they can actually do some teamwork, its like 99% gg for me.

Moar k4 stuff plz! I don't know how to fight American planes. (F8F, F4U, mustang H5, F7F, etc)

K4 is so fucking utter shit against griffon shitfires and f4u 4bs. Both are literally better in every single way. If I don't use a fw190 or ta152, then I stand absolutely 0 chance against anyone who knows what they're doing.

@@threadworm437 Sure looks like it lol. Just have to try and play to your strengths and play a little smarter compared to those other planes. The k4 will put in a lot of work for you. :)
