Haha, I didn’t expect you to have this yeast. This brand is a well-known baker’s yeast brand in China. In recent years, with the rise of the Chinese craft brewing market, it is now also making beer yeast, but Chinese homebrewers hardly use it. , We generally still use Fermentis, Lallemand, Mangrove Jack's, White Labs, etc.

The reason that Chinese homebrewers don't use this yeast is the price and availability. The price for that yeast in China on taobao was around 23 RMB, slightly cheaper than imported yeasts. while it's price in Russia lies between 13-15 RMB for the same stuff. The yeast is great anyway, but their marketing strategy and designers are good for nothing IMO.

Sir, I'm in south east Australia, summer here, we are having the coldest summer in decades actually, I have been pressure fermenting inside a keg and takes 12 days and have been using a really nice Lager yeast, Saflager S-189, it is very clean and has a nice lager flavor, no off flavors at all, nothing like those Psudolager yeasts, pressure fermenting in kegs will be the way I ferment lager in the future, plus I use gelatin, I also do a closed transfer into another keg which has been purged with co2
@michaelchristian97523 жыл бұрын
Are you temp controlling the fermentation?
@Peter-Southern-Victoria-Aust3 жыл бұрын
@@michaelchristian9752 No it has been 20C inside the house, I have read others doing it in the mid 20s, I think lager yeast under pressure is best around ale yeast temperatures but it is the same as a store bought lager, which is what I have been anting to produce for years and all within 12 days

Split batch Ale vs Lager idea. Make a traditional English Porter and split the batch between something like WLP-002 and Saflager 34/70. Always wanted to know if an ale like an English Porter would end up tasting more like a Munich Dunkel if you did that. I don't know though, what do you think?
@DrHansBrewery3 жыл бұрын
Stouts and porters are both sometimes fermented with lager yeast. For me it works. Much of the flavor comes from the malt in these beer. May grainbill wouldn't be the same for Swarzchbier as for a Porter or stout.

What's the BFD about BF16 yeast (sorry)? Your deer need an entertainment center so they can have dinner and a movie. I was kind of hoping that the Chinese sourced yeast was just going to be meh so that our US/European yeast suppliers who did the hard work of developing lab grade yeast for micro/home brewers don't go out of business.
