@@gurumajuindonesia The guys who developed BFD3 said they are going to continue working on BFD. So I assume they will release a BFD4 eventually. I don't have any inside knowledge on this though. Its just what they stated after Fxpansion sold the BFD series to InMusic.

Is bfd3 useful for electronic Dancemusic productions?
@BenoniStudio2 жыл бұрын
@@AlfonxB Its more for Acoustic drums. There is an 8-bit expansion that you could use for electronic music, but there are better solutions that are aimed at beats, electronic, and dance music.

+Laurdess Valentino BFD3 will run as a plugin in a DAW or you can run it standalone. You can even record/program a drum track in BFD3 and export it. But that's not the same as a DAW where you have multiple tracks and input sources. So, no, you do not need a host with BFD3.

After using the original BFD v1.5 for years, I recently bought SSD4 (32bit) 6 months ago. I have to say, the original BFD sounds better and in your face then SSD4 (32bit). I Don't like all the processing they did to it, because it doesn't have that punch I like. This new 64 bit BFD3 sounds amazing. I love that fact it still comes unprocessed and allows me the user to process the drums as needed. Oh, and the new groove Library looks very promissing.

You should buy a cheap refurbished 64 bit pc. Also your 32 bit computer processor might be 64 bit capable. That would allow you to change to a 64 bit operating system, possibly free. Ask a computer repair shop for their opinion. Good luck.

James Chestnut - Respectfully you do NOT know what you are talking about. I have been using BFD in it's various versions for many many years, and have owned and used most, if not all the leading drum engines out there. I can say hands down that BFD3 is THE most advanced and professional of all of them by a LARGE margin. The sheer detail you can get in terms of articulation, expression, and fine tuning detail is breath-taking. The stunning range of quality instruments with deep layers (means for some we're talking 300 levels of volume/hit from barely hitting to thumping the living daylights out of say a snare or kick) is even with the stock kit pieces provided sublime. Sure, for some of the best drum recordings and articulations, there are some fantastic expansion packs. I own most of these, so I can say I have put my money where my mouth is. The trick is to pick what you will use most, and wait for the sale periods and buy bits at typically 50% off. As for the quality, the way the drums have been recorded is immaculate. I can say in all my mixes I've used these in, people do NOT know that this is NOT a real drummer but BDF3, it is THAT good. Mind you I use a LOT of GrooveMonkee's unquantized groove packs, and combined with BDF3, and all the groove adjustments I make, this is like having a first class drummer in your studio! Seriously, I both compose and write songs. For pieces with guitar and bass (which I play both) I just set up a groove I like, set it to random auto play grooves with fills, and I can say it's just like jamming with a real drummer. Some of what I think are my best pieces came from this very approach. I can fine tune the grooves easily and also record my own beats if I want in real time, then adjust for minute detail. The level of articulation is again exceptionally good, with a whole host of options. Anyone can demo BFD3 and test drive it for themselves. If you're an amateur who does not want to do much work, there are nicely processed kit pieces and grooves etc set up for easy instant play. But if you're anything nearing professional and up, I can confidently say you will NOT be disappointed with BFD3. None of the other competing products out there come even close to the sheer detail and fine levels of articulation BFD3 does. So NO, James, I completely disagree with you.

Hey man, how do I disable the snare buzz in the tom samples? setting snare Bleed OFF for a tom doesn't do it. Is there a room mic I need to adjust as well?
@BenoniStudio9 жыл бұрын
+Mark Juliano Well turning the Bleed off on each tom should be doing it for the direct tom channels. Of course you will still be hearing everything through the overheads and room mics. You might want to apply some Damping to the snare and adjust the level the snare is going out of each mic channel.
@sn47som9 жыл бұрын
+BenoniStudio thx for the reply. maybe you can quickly test it yourself? load up the gretsch high tom and take the snare bleed off for that tom. you'll see it does nothing. let me know wat you think

Do you know what gear was used for the Distortion effects? There are some presets I love to use modern saturation, tape saturation and my favorite one by far, the vintage channel!. My question is about the vintage channel/tube preset. What was the gear used for this tube preset? I want to buy some additional plug ins and need to know what type of plug in I should be buying that is similar to the gear used for the vintage channel tube preset. The tube sounds amazing on the drums in bfd3 and is what makes the samples sound so good. Any info would help a lot. Thank you!
@BenoniStudio8 жыл бұрын
I don't know if the DISTORTION effect was modeled on a specific piece of gear or what, it's not mentioned in the manual. Under MODE you can see the type of distortion/filter used. GE Diode is the type for the Tape Sat, and Tube is the type for Vintage. You can google those terms to learn more about the different types of distortion. This page is kind of interesting www.geofex.com/effxfaq/distn101.htm As far as type of plugins, that depends. Trash2 has lots of distortion types. Something like Alloy 2 has an Exciter section that could give that kind of edge. Ozone 7 has Vintage Tape and Vintage compressor that could emulate some pleasing distortion. Plenty of analog modeled compressors can impart some distortion, and then there are tape saturators, tube saturators, ect... Best thing to do is just look around and get the demos of everything before you buy.
@sn47som8 жыл бұрын
right the vintage channel uses a tube and thats what im looking for more of for plug ins. it is a must on kick and toms. Im just gonna start looking for vintage plug ins. Thanks for that link Ill def check it out.

@BenoniStudio8 жыл бұрын
The sound quality of the Effects in BFD3 are perfectly fine. It all comes down to algorithms anyway. Where things differ is what options do you need, and what is your workflow. You can make a pro sounding drum track in BFD3, using just the included effects. Or you can print the audio to tracks and mix with your favorite plugins and make a pro sounding track.
@sn47som8 жыл бұрын
the question was more about if the commercial plug ins are better/more powerful applications. algorithms of course they are all programmed like that but doesn't mean they are created equal. I do like the built in effects

Bryce Rodgers Not sure, I haven't used AD in a long while. It's a nice feature to have, but I really don't use it much in metal, BUT I am glad I have the option. I don't think you would be disappointed with BFD3. There are plenty of expansion libraries available for it, I have several demo videos of different BFD libraries. That said, Addictive sounds fine. They all sound good these days, BFD, Superior Drummer, EZ Drummer, Steven Slate drums, Addictive, Strike 2.... Really just depends on the interface and options you prefer. I like the integrated groove editor in BFD3, the ability to use it standalone, and the plethora of options.
