The reason there's not really many PhysX games is because Nvidia doesn't like sharing.
@HinanawiTenko9 жыл бұрын
+Rage Actually, if you read up on it, Nvidia offered ATI (yes, before AMD discontinued the ATI brand) PhysX AND CUDA support but they turned it down, thinking their StreamAPI would be just as good.  Also, more and more games are using PhysX, just under Nvidia Gameworks APIs. The code calculations are identical, just fully optimized for CUDA. Nvidia split the PhysX drivers on the DEVELOPER side to make utilization easier and its working.
@ZunaZurugi9 жыл бұрын
+mathwizi2005 Mhhh really interessting, but could also mean NVIDIA wanted to much for it but need to find some source for it anyway ^^
@HinanawiTenko9 жыл бұрын
TsunaTsurugi Well again, AMD thought their Stream Processor design was superior, and for sheer grunt work clock for clock, AMD will TROUNCE all over Nvidia's GPUs but both sides have their downfalls. AMD have amazing hardware but shitty drivers so NOTHING is optimized for the Stream architecture. Nvidia has AMAZING drivers with crappy architecture, don't believe me? Why would Nvidia be rushing....to get every Gameworks API out the door as soon as possible? If their GPUs were truely all powerful, why are they still pushing out low-end hardware calls to optimize hardware use? I'll let you answer those and don't get me wrong, I'll pick Nvidia over AMD anyday (550 Ti > 750 Ti > 970) but their GPUs are SHIT.
@ZunaZurugi9 жыл бұрын
***** But Nvidia have powersaving GPU's i mean thats quite good. Nvidia and AMD both bring out "low end" GPU's what is a good thing because they are quite good for a low price.
@HinanawiTenko9 жыл бұрын
TsunaTsurugi I agree but one thing you REALLY shouldn't say in the same sentence is GPU and power saving. GPU wattage only matters for Non-gamers and thats NOT what these GPUs are aimed at.

Yeah, PhysX is not distributed fairly. I recently converted from my AMD 7970 to a Nvidia GTX 980 and the PhysX is rather noticeable in games like Borderlands 2, but it is abit like Nvidia is shooting them self in the foot when only allowing PhysX on there GPUs, when I believe PhysX can work on AMD GPUs, they just code it to not to be allowed.
@amshermansen10 жыл бұрын
Roy Van Nieuwkasteel I'd have to say that in this particular case nVidia are the ones "sucking". They aren't allowing AMD to implement PhysX into their graphics cards. And because of that PhysX will remain a niché thing that nobody truly cares about. It's a gimmick at most. Any developer who wants to sell their product makes it optional and uses CPU based PhysX for anything critical so that AMD customers can play.

PhysX is not going to succeed unless AMD can get it on their cards or they put the PPU on a separate PCIe card (like in the original concept). Compatibility issues is what holds back on progress and technological advancement, and nvidia is one of the leading propagators of incompatibility.

Guys. NVidia is making Cash like the asians Do cheap work. AMD and NVidia are the Kings When it comes to gpu battles. But for every invention that NVidia Made, AMD comes by and bitchslaps them. Mantel, True Audio, PhysX blah blah blah. It doesnt evwn matters. If you Have much Money Most peps would go with an NVidia gpu. But AMD has Better Performance for the cash you Have to pay... Buuut Its not always like this. AMD had the r9 200 series, But NVidia now has the 900 series witch is Better in my opinion. Both Series are fucking good. Buuuut... Its still a question What Games Youll play. Many Developers create their own physic engine so theres no gpu/cpu bitching.

If anyone wonders what happened with BFG's people after the company died - they moved to Europe and KFA was born. KFA is basically the BFG, since more than 90% of all of it's employees are ex-BFG workers and the KFA itself was formed by the original team who created the BFG to begin with. Later, Galaxy contacted KFA and KFA2 was made (which was, basically, a European subsidiary of Galaxy, an outsource of sorts). And now, sometime not so long ago, Galaxy completely bought out the entire KFA (both the KFA2 and the main KFA) and created "GALAX" brand. Basically, Galaxy did exactly the same what AMD did to ATi. So, yes, to sum it all up and to put it out simply: almost the entire team (90%) of ex-BFG workers are now working for Galaxy. P.S. Remember, kids! Each and every time you're buying "KFA" and/or "GALAX" branded video - you're actually buying Galaxy!

StrongarmSlayer inferior tech is inferior tech, no matter how you look at it. If consoles weren't limited by hardware being outdated even before launch, there wouldn't be a problem in the first place.

Mainfold Define outdated. What, you're expecting a damn 780 Ti inside a PS4? Give me a break.
@Doogleraia10 жыл бұрын
StrongarmSlayer No, expecting the tech inside not to be 8 years old when the console is released as "brand new" and then priced like it's brand new, when it clearly isn't. Tech inside the PS4 for instance, is tech from back in 2006, and they priced it like it was 2014-worthy tech. You expect users to accept being literally scammed by these major companies like Sony and Microsoft? Give me a break.
@dauf6910 жыл бұрын
Mainfold What the fuck? PS4 using tech from 2006? Let me take you on a flashback. 2006: -GDDR3 is still the norm. -DDR3 is still new and very expensive. -Integrated Graphics is still on chipset rather than CPU. -No HSA. -PCI Express 1.0 -No USB 3.0 -Well, there's only GeForce 8000 and 9000 series and Radeon X2000 series. And you're saying PS4, using a *HD 7870*, a tech from 2006? Give me a break you elitist.
@Doogleraia10 жыл бұрын
GDDR3 still the norm? I'm sorry but you must be trying to troll. Tech that was used on the Nvidia 6xxx series is by no means "the norm" anymore. DDR3 is not new, it's not expensive either, DDR4 is brand new and very expensive. Integrated Graphics is pretty much garbage in any form of gaming aspect, and it's not on chipsets, it's embedded in to the architecture of the specific CPU/APU's that are applicable for the sockets where the chipsets are enabled to run it. PCI Express 1.0 is the definition of outdated. The "next gen" consoles utilize unified memory, UMA was made obsolete by SMA so many years ago that you would have to ask someone at IBM to be able to get hold of a physical tech item that still utilized it ..that's not a "next gen" console. Stop arguing over something you've factually argued yourself in to the gutter with, you're just making yourself look stupid when you try to argue that outdated tech is "the norm" and "the way to go" by any means. Not to mention that they expect like $500 for it, when it's BOM cost was pushed up to $381 on launch (because they actually added HDD's that weren't too old, so it increased their initial BOM).. and that's WITH manufacturing costs, not purely materials. Considering that a $300 off-the-shell-parts built PC will have superior specs and not only be cheaper, you'd have to be ignorant to try and defend the tech in the "next gen" consoles. Sure, I'm not gonna argue about preference, as some people just like to play on consoles (be it for exclusive titles or whatever it may be), but you can't dispute the fact that they are inarguably inferior pieces of tech.

I'll be sad when I have to use a computer without the obsolete PCI slot. I'm still using my old PCI X-Fi XtremeMusic. I've tried a number of more modern sound cards but really for games I prefer an xfi over the newer samples, and the newer generations of xfi were built to a lower quality (except the single $300+ offering). Additionally the most recent generation from both creative and asus have had driver stability issues for years whilst I still haven't had a single problem with my ancient xfi. It will be a shame when we lose the slot and can't use that one PCI card we all keep from the old days when computers and games were made to be stable.

@aldionsylkaj96549 жыл бұрын
Jak Well, there was these new guys creating binaural audio engines that is VERY very realistic, want an example??? Simple. KZbin: "3D Barber" and you will see. Now, these guys emrged and where going to revolutionize the gaming audio industry with binaural audio engines that take normal stereo (i think) and convert it to real 3d, by simulating real microphones from the perspective of the player, not only that but simulating actual sound waves as it goes through the air and interacts with objects, in counter strike, you could hear footsteps behind corners coming from the corner. So a 4k 60fps oculus rift is the eye candy, what about the binaural audio for the ear candy? So my point is: Creative bought all of these companies out (there was more than one) and they kept the code secret and don't sell it, only lesser version strictly to for their own company (like G-Sync vs Freesync). Why? Becuase they (creative) feared the competition getting in the way of profit. I don't remember the company name, you might need to research google/bing/deepweb(:P) and stuff.
@JakXLT9 жыл бұрын
***** Aureal 3D. Good to know. Honestly I wouldn't care as much if they would actually use what they took instead of just letting it uselessly sit in an archive somewhere. Same goes for Nvidia, I wouldn't care about their practices as much if they simply let AMD users buy an Nvidia card for PhysX.
@aldionsylkaj96549 жыл бұрын
Jak i think it's posible but cards after 400 series are locked i believe. so 2x Furies and a single 660ti (my old gpu)
@JakXLT9 жыл бұрын
***** No all cards are locked. It's a driver thing, and you can get hacked drivers(Google P10 Hybrid Physx click first link). I have a GTX 285 and used it for PhysX with a 7950 before I got a 980 ti. I'll probably use it again when I switch over to a Fury X2 whenever that comes out, but some PhysX 2 titles it doesn't work on(Batman Arkham Origins), and all PhysX 3 titles it does not work on. The driver mod is no longer in development.

Z97 CPU and Z87 Mobo :D get a Z97 one to fit your cpu also maybe look for low profile (LP) vengeance ram since it could not fit because of your CPU cooler. Noctua has a document for looking it up. :^)
@DaiLoDong10 жыл бұрын
im sure there are alot of trolls who just post specs to show off or they dont know anything and really need help. im going to assume the latter. everything is good except i wouldnt get the 970. its a bit overkill honestly. u might as well settle for like a 760 unless u have multiple monitors. otherwise i would strongly recommend a ssd. even a small one for just important or offten played games is good. and i would also recommend 1 or 2 extra fans for the case in case u live some where where it gets hot or ur room isnt well ventilated. and also get a 750w psu instead of 600. only costs a tiny bit more and then u will have extra room for future upgrading
@nicksandalis55310 жыл бұрын
The motherboard you chose will not support the haswell refresh i5. Go with a Z97 chipset and you're good to go. On a personal note, im not a really big fan of corsair vengeance, i think its overhyped and overpriced, im more of a kingston and adata person myself. I hope you will get to build it yourself, its a joy of an experience. Good luck with your new gaming pc.
@TheHornet7910 жыл бұрын
I agree with Froot Mann. 16gb is a waste of money unless you are using intensive work programs like making videos, photoshop, and logic pro. Upgrade your power supple to 750 for SLI if you plan on doing so later on. I regret purchasing my 650 PSU because now I have spend another 100 bucks for a PSU once I SLI.
@dandreurquhart351110 жыл бұрын
f0wl First of all Z87 mobo support Haswell refresh you have to update mobo but now a days its automatic, A 600w psu will be enough i am getting a similar set up just a msi mobo and gpu for a mini itx with 2ssds for 1200$ cad. Total power draw with gpu boost is a round 350-400 your fine

When building a PC, you essentially have only 2 choices, Intel, and AMD, and even then, Intel still holds the "monopoly" on x86, since AMD is only able to produce x86 certified chips under a license, something that will expire if they are bought out.

PhysX will never play a more serious part in PC gaming because it would trash AMD cards. And let's face it, even Nvidia wants AMD around. Maybe for licensing Mantle? Hell knows...
@davidwoodruff706510 жыл бұрын
I read somewhere that direct x 12 was beating mantle. It may or may not be true but at the very least I doubt there will be any significant difference between the two
@ast551510 жыл бұрын
David Woodruff DX12 is too new. It's not fully supported by older Windows versions, Win 10 is an alpha, this means comparisons are pointless for the time being.
@MrJigssaw198910 жыл бұрын
David Woodruff Is DX 12 even out yet ? Has it any games ? As far as I know nope. DX12 can never be as efficient as mantle can be simply because it cannot be as close to hardware as mantle is (because mantle is designed with specifically for GCN architecture) where as DX will have to have more abstraction. There is also the rumors of DX12 only being compatible with windows 10 (50% of people still use Win7), also mantle has huge potential because gpus can work independently of each other (lets say gpu in your APU will compute physics/ai and dedicated gpu will do the graphics). For those reasong I don't really thing mantle is going anywhere.
@davidwoodruff706510 жыл бұрын
ast5515 very ture MrJigssaw1989 I was just repeating ssomething I heard. There is another rumor that windows might start releasing their updates for free like Mac OS so that would solve people being locked out due to OS version unless they are stubborn. Nvidia supports having a dedicated GPU for physX already. Either way I haven't followed this stuff to much. I hope Mantle blows everything else out of the water though it just means a better gaming experience for everyone
