The BFR Flight, before Dan Gryder has inspired us to do things a little differently, Dan Millican (@SFilmsTakingOff) flies with a co-worker, Mark Ott, from Las Vegas who happened to be shooting a tv show in Fort Worth. Mark is knocking the rust off after several years without flying.
They fly a Cessna 210. Mark is a commercial pilot with multi-engine, so a high performance, complex aircraft is no problem for him!

Nice job instructing Dan, I like to see instructors and pilots of similar ages working together. We seem to understand each other.

Just like riding a bicycle! Nice job, Mark! And the same to Dan for the excellent instruction, and video content. 👍🍻

Misperception to the unwary: That one completes a sign-off in one type of aircraft doesn't clear that person for renting from an FBO --- they (and their insurance) also want to sign-off the prospective customer regardless of experience in type from somewhere else --- so renting will require an additional sign-off / check-ride

Thank you for posting this. I haven't flown in 13 years and was wondering why it wasn't right rudder.

That was a fun and instructional video, nice job teaching dan. There was a question when he was landing at Bridgeport, mark was calling for a touch and go landing but did a full stop, any reason for that. Thx again for putting these videos out.

We floated a long ways down and I didn't like our margins and called for the full stop.

Excellent video. Always wanted to fly the C210, it must be like the 182 on steroids. Just one thing, it's hard to believe those spindly gear struts hold up so well. They just look so weak, although they all seem to do quite well.

Yeah they look spindly, but they’re solid.

First, thanks for posting videos such as these. They are quite helpful for both pilots and instructors to learn from. Couple of things I noticed. On landing at Bridgeport the first time, you kept talking about adding or removing fuel. If I am not mistaken, throttle, which I believe is what you were telling Mark to adjust, controls air, not fuel. On the second landing, you said you like to be fast. Why would you want to be fast. I try to always teach students to be on the proper approach speed, only adding speed for gusty wind. Just a few things to keep in mind when you are potentially influencing the way pilots fly their planes.
@TakingOff
@TakingOff Жыл бұрын
Im pretty sure it was because of gusty crosswind

Great video! I love the 210 but am a little intimidated by it. The check out seems less intimidating and boosting my confidence to go for a check out.

I love the 210! Don’t be intimidated. Like anything, once you get familiar, it will be easier.

Adding to the verbage discussion...how about, "Departing one four, westbound." Four very simple, precise words, nothing missing, nothing extra. Of course, you would still use the full call, "Hicks traffic, Cessna 4620 Yankee, Departing one four, Westbound, Hicks."

Do you find a lot of pilots lose the fundamentals after being away for a while? I was away from flying for 7 years and I renewed my PPL last year (135 hours at the time). I felt like I never left aviation, and I was successful enough to checked out in a new, higher performance aircraft I've never flown in 8 hours flight time.

I’m trying to get back into flying after not flying for 33 years. Its going to be very interesting. I’m waiting for my medical to get straightened up. Good to hear your return, Aleksander went well. I need to review PPL book stuff. I think I will do ok with handling. I’m just going to try to relax and enjoy the process.

I think it was, in general, a good indication of a BFR. My problem is with continuity of the flight rather than content. The call at Bridgeport was touch-n-go yet the video showed turning off to taxi back. Continuity broken and confusing to the viewer. You also really need to state that the legality of being 'current' won't let you rent at another airport without a checkout by that FBO renter. Thanks for sharing

Thanks Dan. It might be helpful during COVID-19 to make it clear that two or more folks not living together, not be within 6 ft of each other. Indicating the date of filming would be helpful. Best Wishes in all of this. All of you KZbinrs have quite a task at hand making adjustments. I believe most of your viewers appreciate at some level your predicament.

Was this put together by Bryan of "Just Plane Silly"? I'm asking because I just watched his informative video on BFR which led into this video and the commercial before this video was about stuff (Floracil50) that they said is supposed to grow your balls bigger. Grow my balls? Hey, there are other things I would want to grow before that. At current size I have enough trouble getting them comfortably situated before flight with my legs crammed up in the small space. Probably should have gone back and put this comment on Bryan's video.

This CFI is way to chatty. He's not saying anything useful, only 'what I like'. I don't GAF what you like. You are there to make sure I am safely operating the AC as per the ACS/FARs
