BG Engine Restoration Cleaner 2010 Honda CRV 2 of 2

This video is a continuation to video reference BG Engine Restoration on a 2010 Honda CRV which had a lot of gunk and sludge inside the engine due to the engine burning oil.

I did this on a 2014 Traverse that needed 2-3 quarts of oil between changes and would smoke pretty heavy on startup. It competently fixed the issues, within a few startups the smoke went away and it no longer needs oil between changes. I did this on a relatively warm day and the heat from it sitting at 3500 RPM for that amount of time caused part of the plastic to melt around the exhaust. If I did this in the future I would run a blower fan to move air under the vehicle. I can't speak highly enough of BG products.

My daughter's friend brought me her 2016 CRV with 156K because it was making a noise. It was 3.5 quarts low. I ran BG engine performance, not this one but the one can product. I am going to see if it helps. If not I am going to do this. I never knew they have this issue. We will see. Thanks for the video

Try testing the PCV valve to make sure it's working properly also. It might be contributing to the oil being burned. With 160K miles, who knows whether the previous owner took care of it. It should be replaced every 30-60K miles

How many miles on this engine? I have a 2006 Honda Element with this same 2.4L engine and at 130,000 miles it does not use any oil between oil changes. I started it out new on synthetic oil and change it every 5,000 miles, using the Honda filter. And in case you did not know, the Honda synthetic oil is made by Phillips 66/Conoco Oil Company. They also make Motorcraft and Kendall oils. And they own, Red Line Oil.

I have about 165,000 miles now. I change the oil every 5K miles also. There was probably two times over the life of the vehicle that I changed the oil at about 6k or 7k miles.

Never prefill your clean side of oil filter with new oil. New oil is to be considered dirty and should only go into the pan or over open components.

Can you elaborate on that? If the oil is considered dirty, doesn't that mean that you are pouring that same oil into you engine oil pan? which will in turn make it's way into the parts of the engine. If you don't prefill the oil filter, doesn't the same oil going to end up in the filter after you fill your engine oil pan? Please provide a source so that I can read about it. It might change the way I do things and i am always open for anything that extends the life of my vehicles. Thanks

@@fixit9888 The filter is there to make sure no contamination big enough to hurt the bearings goes to the bearings. By prefilling the filter you are gambling that no such contaminants exists in the new oil. Oil suppliers have no cleanliness standards for new oil in the container as anything can happen during production, it’s not a clean room situation, they can’t wash the containers that are shipped in etc. The oil in the pan is dirty, and it is pumped to the dirty side of the filter. Don’t put anything unknown on the clean side.

Did the car stop burning oil ?

It burns less oil now, but it did not stop burning oil. I read online that the CRV has that problem. I wish I had known that before I bought it. The good thing is that is burning way less oil. Now I don't have to add oil between oil change.

@@matthewfreidus5034 I remember that I had to add about a quart of oil every 2-3 months. Next oil change is coming soon and I have not added oil because the level is not critically low. It still shows the oil between full and low. I will let you know how much oil I lost once I get home.

@@matthewfreidus5034 i just checked the oil level and it's still full. I Don't think it's burning oil anymore. If so, it's a very small amount because I cannot see the difference . I have driving the car for close to 4,500 miles already and by this time some oil should have burned, but I check the dipstick and the level is still in the same level i filled it.

I junked my 2010 CRV because it was burning all of the oil within 3 tanks of gas. I wish I knew this sooner, it might buys me a few years on it.
