Brandon, this was so well researched, compiled and presented. You're the guy I will be following as I consider SC. And if I do consider the move, you will be my first call.

Moved down from New York myself and work with many clients who are moving from North to South. Thanks for the content!

It took me coming back to SC with my family to realize how much better it is down here. The way NYC tricks people is the allure of the "air" element -- your eyes get drawn upward in NYC and you start envisioning a nest in the sky with great views. And because the competition is so fierce, it is more about winning a game than finding a *home.* Because after you score that prized property (million-dollar-plus shoebox in the sky with a view but no space), you realize you didn't win anything. You're just a sucker who got seduced by a rat race, and now you literally are living like a pack rat, stacked on top of one another. Yes, you've got your own little cramped space, but it's not a home. NYCRE is the biggest racket ever, and once you detox from it, you will not relapse. Will take a rambling PRIVATE property in Columbia (for a better price and with nicer neighbors) than getting swallowed up again in an urban jungle.

Advice for South Carolina people when it comes to New Yorkers you have to tell them 3 things 1 You are more masculine then me (they are real insecure about that) 2 You LOVE The Rangers 3 most important You can beat me up or know someone who can

We are leaving the hell hole of NY state (upstate though) and moving to the Columbia area in a couple months. Cannot come fast enough. Edit: My utilities bill is about $400 a month for Gas/Electric. I just laughed when you said the Utilities are more expensive. I also paid $5800 last year in just school and property taxes. That is roughly 3.3%.

Thanks for the insight! I was wondering where the stats came from, because most have told me they saved on utilities!

Where in SC did you film this video? It looks gorgeous. My wife and I moved from Long Island, NY to Lehigh Valley, PA about 6 years ago. We are now considering moving to SC over the next couple of years. We're just not sure yet.

What about schools? Best/worst in the area 😊

I’d recommend checking out the states screportcards.com, greatschools.org or niche.com as best/worst are such personal opinions. I’ve noticed everyone feels a little different in what they consider bad and good.

Who is making $100,000 in NYC? And is this a solo person or have multiple people in household? Are you skipping the millions of people who make min wage or have public assistance?

It was a reference point, I did mention the average income in the state later in the video.

I live in Greenville SC and can tell you this state is VERY polarized economically. In the last decade a lot of wealthier people have moved here from other states- driving home prices up. Govt assistance programs, food benefits, etc are very limited (as is public transportation) so add car expenses into your monthly budget. A single person needs to make $25/hr to rent a small apartment. Someone working full time at a convenience store earns about $12/hr. Some assistant mngr positions in retail or labor through Amazon may pay $17.
