The Bhagavad Gita or the Gita Saar is widely revered as one of the greatest jewels of spiritual wisdom in the history of humankind. Bhagavad means “of God” and Gita means “song.” Hence, the Bhagavad Gita literally means “Song of God.” It describes the divine dialogue that took place between the Supreme Lord Shree Krishna and his devotee Arjun on the battle ground.
Unable to deal with the immediate problem at hand, Arjun approached Shree Krishna for a palliative to overcome the anguish he was experiencing. Shree Krishna did not just advise him on his immediate problem, but digressed to give a profound discourse on the philosophy of life. Hence, the Bhagavad Gita imparts, above everything else, Brahma Vidyā, the science of God-realization.
Bhagavad Gita describes clear-cut techniques for implementing its spiritual precepts for everyday life. Hence, the Bhagavad Gita is also called “Yog Shastra,” meaning, the scripture that teaches the practice of Yog.
In this series, Swami Mukundananda reveals the original meanings of the Bhagavad Gita Quotes, Shlokas [Chapter 7, Gyan Vigyan Yog, Yog through the Realization of Divine Knowledge] with crystal clear explanations and perfect logic.

श्रीभगवानुवाच
मय्यास तमना: पार्थ योगं युञ्जन्मदाश्र्य: ।
असंशयं समग्रं मां यथा ज्ञास्यसि तच्छृणु ॥
Shri Bhagavan uvacha
Mayyasakta-manah partha yogam yunjanmad-ashrayah
asanahyam samaram mam yatha jnasyasi tach chhrinu
The Supreme Lord said: Now listen, O Arjun, how, with the mind attached exclusively to me, and surrendering to me through the practice of bhakti yog, you can know me completely, free from doubt. ||1||
ज्ञानं तेऽहंसविज्ञानमिदं वक्ष्याम्यशेषत: ।
यज्ज्ञात्वा नेहऽभूयो न्यज्ज्ञातव्यमवशिष्यते ॥
Jananam te ham sa-vijnanam idam vakshyamyasheshtah
yaj jnatva neha bhuyo naj jnatavyam-avashishyate
I shall now reveal unto you fully this knowledge and wisdom, knowing which nothing else remains to be known in this world. ||2||
मनुष्याणां सहस्रेषु कश्चिद्यतति सिद्धये ।
यततामपि सिद्धानां कश्चिन्मां वेत्तितत्त्वतः ॥
Manushyanam sahasreshu kashchid yatati siddhaye
yatatam api siddhanam kashchin mam vetti tattvatah
Amongst thousands of persons, hardly one strives for perfection; and amongst those who have achieved perfection, hardly one knows me in truth. ||3||

Swami Mukundananda Ji explained very well (hit my mind very well) - the importance of practical realization of the theoretical knowledge. It is not sufficient to simply acquire divine knowledge, but we should implement it in our daily lives. I loved it when he mentioned that people simply pay lip service to God that He is everything to us, but practically, we ignore God to instead attend a far relatives' wedding; this is a very true example that underscores the importance of intuition/practical knowledge.

I was always curious to know about what is there in Bhagavad Gita. Though I have a copy of Bhagavad Gita by Swami Mukundananda yet I failed to read it completely (not a reading person that I am). Theoritical knowledge should be turned into practical realisation. Theory is very important but theory simply wouldn't do much unless it is converted into para gyan or the real knowledge bestowed with the grace of God upon purification of heart by devotion...Thank you Swamiji for beautiful lecture!

Swamiji mukundananda Ji explains the scenario when Arjun was confused about his duty. Arjun approaches Krishna for guidance. Lord Krishna gives concrete knowledge of the absolute truth and wisdom (insight from within). Swamiji explains that Shree Krishna had declared that those who worship him in knowledge with mind and intellect merged in Him, are perfect yogis. Swamiji beautifully explains many verses which provide vast knowledge. Must watch!

In this Swami Mukundananda youtube video, he explained how Shri Krishna explained on Karm Yog in first 6 chapters of Bhagavad Gita. He mentioned how different kinds of people perform different kinds of Yog. But among them Shri Krishna says "That Yogi is dear to me, who does Devotion to the Supreme Lord" or who units his/her mind with God. In this Chapter, Shri Krishna explains the what is the object, nature and process of devotion. In the first verse Lord mentioned there are two kinds of knowledge - one is Jnan(Theoretical knowledge) and another is Vijnan-(Practical Retaliation).Shri krishna promises to destroy Arjun's darkness in theory and in practical realization as Arjun is surrendered to Shri Krishna. Acquiring proper theoretical knowledge is important because without it we cannot achieve success in any field. And also we need to put it into practice to get practical realization. Beautiful explanation by Swami Mukundananda ji as always.
