Hare Krishna Prabhuji, Yajna is not just an activity, it is the principle of sacrifice. by sacrifice, we spiritualize our activities. purpose of yajna is purification and liberation. without yajna no one can be happy neither in this life nor in the next. yajna originates from vedas and involve activity or karma. liberation involves cultivation of knowledge and yajna in jnana is better than the jana of just sacrificing one's possessions... thank you

Without performance of yajnas one cannot be happy even in this life time. When people are pleasure driven, then there is no deep satisfaction. But when we sacrifice for a higher purpose then there is deep satisfaction. The more one satisfies the higher cause; greater is the satisfaction for the self.

The universal principle and purpose underlying various yagnas. Different yajnas • literal sacrifice (nishkama-karma-yoga), • worship of devatas (sa-kama-karma-yoga - 4.25 ab), • offering atma to brahman (jnana-yoga - 4.25 cd), • restraining the senses (naishthiki-brahmacaris - 4.26 ab), • remaining indifferent to the action of the senses (Grihastha brahmacaris - 4.26cd), • restraining the senses and pranas (jnana-yoga 4.27), • practice of severe vows (karma, jnana-yoga, ashtanga-yoga 4.28), • controlling the breath (yoga 4.29abcd), and • restraining eating (yoga 4.29ef). 3 fruits of yajnas • Impurities are removed • One enjoys the fruits of yajna even in this world • One attains the supreme brahman
