Construction phases
Phase 0: Bhanupli to Barmana in Bilaspur, 63.1 km (39.2 mi) long link connecting Ladakh to Indian railway network at existing Bhanupli station of Ambala-Sirhind-Una rail line. As of February 2022, the expected completion date for this track is 2025. Phase 1: Barmana to Mandi.

The project involves laying of broad-gauge rail link from Bhanupalli to Bilaspur-Beri in Himachal Pradesh and was approved in April 2008. The scope of work involves construction of foundations, substructure and superstructure along with river training/protection work, earthwork and allied works for five important railway bridges over Donal Khad, Dabatwali Khad, Balaknath Khad and Dharot-I & -II Nala between 3.50 km to 20.00 km in connection with construction of Bhanupali-Bilaspur-Beri new BG line in the states of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. This rail line will give a new dimension to the connectivity of the entire region.
