Awesome series Nitin ... thanks to you, we all lived the years of Kargil War .. I was 21 years old in 1999 and was just recovering from the setback of not able to join NDA in 1995 .. had I got selected, I probably would have been fighting in Kargil .. destiny! I now live in Manila, Philippines, after watching this series, I along with my son who is now 18 years have made a trip to go to Drass this end of July to pay our homage to our brave soldiers on 25th anniversary of Kargil War !

Nitin, this is straight from war zone without a war! Unbelievable heroics!! Every time I visited the war memorial I had wet eyes. Nice to hear real stories from Gen Joshi, Brig Thakur and others who were heroes. Not generals. This is what I wrote as a tribute to Young Lions on 25 anniversary AN ELEGY TO YOUNG LIONS OF KARGIL Even after 25 years, The Kargil War still grips my mind, A conflict like no other- A testament to courage and resilience. I never served on those icy slopes, But as a traveller, I've walked the land Of Ladakh and Kargil, where echoes of valour Whisper through the mountains and valleys. Towering peaks where battles raged, Heights that test even the boldest climbers. Cliffs where only eagles dare to fly, Yet our soldiers climbed, reaching the sky. In the snow and bitter cold, they faced An enemy entrenched in icy fortresses. With unwavering resolve, they stood their ground, Braving the darkness, relentless and strong. How did they achieve such impossible feats? How did they conquer such daunting heights? Against all odds, they rose and fought, These heroes who stood against the fiercest storm. Vikram Batra, with his immortal cry, Manoj Pandey, who faced death with a smile. Vijayant Thapar, young and bold, Anuj Nayyar, whose stories remain untold. Hanifuddin, with pride and honour, Saurabh Kalia, unyielding in his stance. Padmapani and Sanjay Kumar, Heroes whose light shone from afar. Yogendra Yadav, with unbreakable might, Cariappa and Cheema, steadfast in the fight. Shyamal, Sonam Wangchuk, and many more- Gurjinder, Adhikari, Digendra, Balwan, Nongrum, Kenguruse, and Vivek's courage soared. Aren't these souls the bravest of the brave? Their stories are legends that history will save. The world has rarely seen such defiance, And perhaps never will again. They won't join their comrades' laughter, Won’t sit at familiar dinner tables. They left us young, having given their all- A brother, a husband, a son, a father- On icy slopes, they answered the call. Let us remember these souls who gave Their today for our tomorrow, brave and bold. Let us honour those who sacrificed and fought, With lives laid down and limbs maimed. Let us pray for their souls, forever at rest. In the annals of time, they are the best. Let the truth be told: You, young lions, won the war when generals failed. Jai Hind, we salute these sons, For the battles they fought and the victories won.

Dear Nitin When your guest is speaking, please maintain silence as for a listener who wants to get most out of the time he is spending, your interjections like 'right' 'hmm' are enough to spoil the flow of narration of your guest. If you want to have a discussion with your guest then what is the need for camera. So please stop this Mr. Know-it-all humbuggery

I was 8 years when Kargil happened. I saw Vajpayee ji visiting Lahore, and Kargil War on TV. My naive mind thought that such wars always happen at the borders during Summer Vacations (foolish me). It was when I grew up couple of more years, I started realizing the gravity of situation. Pakistan had already started the plan to encroach the heights previous year in 1998. Vajpayee ji deciding to go to Pakistan in Feb 1999, not knowing sinister plans of Pakistan, was an untended poetic way in which Pakistani mentality was exposed as clearly as possible. India achieved a gr8 moral upper ground if both events are looked together.

@@DonzaiNoHana I agree with not accepting the bodies, Generals should not have done that. You should read about our coward Army's stories, written by your own Generals.
