Its natural to feel like this for our govt companies, But it's not true The Pune, Khadki facilities and Itarsi, MP facilities are state of art. The amount of RDX is handled is huge. The Pokhran facilities for blast testing of ammunition is deadly. And soon you shall see much more in Govt sector to step up soon. I believe that private companies like Adani should collaborate with other private companies to develop an indigenous jet engine for our upcoming projects, such as the AMCA or future projects. In the event of a war, if the West cuts off the supply of engines, we will be left hanging as usual.

The problem with jet engine is not tech but the way we do procurement. If a private business is assured an order of 500 F414 engines it will just happen. You won’t see none of the drama in public of sarkari companies. The stuff will be made and quietly delivered.

Our PSUs provide a dated product & take a lot of time in the name of R&D. They have tried to sell it to foreign countries but didn't find any takers.

Kalyani group is assembling licensed vehicle from a South African company, Adani assembling Israeli guns & drones. Both the companies have comparatively better factories than any government owned facilities , but things would be great if these two companies joins R&D projects of DRDO more passionately. If Adani aerospace builds improved version of Tapas drones, it will be more prideful job than assembling Israeli products.

You have a good point but you missed a critical point here. For Adani profit is more important than atmanirbharta. Adani is making much more profit in assembling the Hermes-900 drone than they'll make in manufacturing Tapas BH-201 drone. Hermes cost 2/3 times more than Tapas and the customer Indian Army is happy to continue purchasing so called proven/much advance Israeli drone. But if you look at the stats recently our OROP army has realised that Adani has taken them for a ride by providing bogus specifications regarding the Hermes-900 drone's actual performance in Indian condition. Tapas has almost nearly the same capabilities yet no interest from army or iaf. Sad state of affairs.

Indian private companies need experience and expertise before venturing into manufacturing & indigenous product development. Assembling is a much needed first step before going into full fledged production of complex equipment.
