Village style Colocasia leaves recipe | Colocasia leaves knots | Chetla | Thetla kootu | ಚೇಟ್ಲ ಕೂಟು
One of the healthy traditional seasonal recipe. we call it as " chetla kootu", which is made by using wild colocasia leaves. colocasia leaves are spiraled before cooking. we also add mangalore cucumbers and jack seeds for this curry. This curry doesn't require much spices. The spices used here are only red chillies and turmeric. These spices are ground with grated coconut and that masala paste is added to the curry after the pieces are cooked. Tempering with garlic, mustard seeds and curry leaves gives a good taste to it. This is a special recipe of coastal areas during the month of ati, that is july- august. Elders say, we need to intake this food atleast once in this season
Ingredients-
wild colocasia leaves
mangalore cucumbers
jack seeds
red chillies
turmeric
tamarind, salt, jaggery
garlic
mustard seeds
coconut oil
curry leaves

Some 50/60 years back Amma used to prepare food out of this root. She uses the leaves and stems and prepare a dish. We were very young and enjoy the food. The earth mother, water and every thing is very pure those days and with little masala everything tasted nice. Those days are gone. I do not not how far we can enjoy these food after our life style in the so called city.

In tulu, we call this thetla. It's little heat for the body. So we mix with sprouted green gram. Balances well and taste is superb😁

ಕಾಟು ಕೆಸುವಿನ ಗಂಟುನೋಡಿ ಬಾಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೀರು ಬಂತು. ಪಧಾರ್ಥ ಕೂಡ ತುಂಬಾ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿದೆ. ನಾವು ಗಂಟು ತಯಾರಿಸುವಾಗ ಎಲೆ ಯನ್ನು ಮಧ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಮಾಡಿಸಿ ತಯಾರಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ.ಅದು ಸುರುಳಿ ಸುತ್ತಲು ತುಂಬಾ ಸುಲಭ. ಇದರ ಜತೆಗೆ ಹಲಸಿನ ಬೇಳೆ, ಅಂಬಡೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಕಣಿಲೆ ಹಾಕುತ್ತೇವೆ.

This is a traditional Konkani recipe, we call it “ganti Ghashi”!! 💗 ganti means knots and ghashi means curry. We make it during Aashad Ekadasi and janmashtami ! :)

We add ambade to this.. as ಕೆಸುವಿನ ಎಲೆ is light for digestion.. during rainy season, digestive fire get reduced and disease are more.. so light and salt processed stored food are used more in cooking..
