You are a GENIUS woman! Where have you been all my yarning life?! I wanna take a minute to thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️ I've wasted so much time trying to perfect my Granny squares, and no matter what videos I've watched, or channels I've followed have helped much. THIS IS AMAZING INFORMATION and I'm so glad I found you. You mention, in one of your videos, the video took you forever to edit and get it just right. I'd like to thank you so very much for the time and effort you put into this, for those of us out here struggling w some string! 😊❤

Great info Brittany. Details are always welcome in a tutorial! Thank you! One question, when you eliminate the extra chain between sections, do you find it "stretches" your connecting stitch and it isn't as smooth, or is it just me? This would apply anytime you have to jump a long way between stitches. Thanks.😊

when crocheting granny squares with different colours for each round, i like to weave in the tails while i go so i don’t need to at the end. This tip saved me so much time so if you hate weaving in ends, it’s a good idea to work the tail in while crocheting around the square. Hope this helps 🩷.

Weaving in tails can be a major pain, especially if you are changing colors in every round, and have a LOT of granny squares in your project, so here are two more tips to help. 1- Crocheting over your yarn tails, so you don't have to weave them in later. This helps in two different ways. You crochet them in over a longer area, so that your Granny Square doesn't get bulky or stiff in certain areas. Also, again, nothing can be more daunting than having 60 or more squares, all with at least 4 or 5 tails to weave in, before you start putting them together. 2- STITCH MARKERS ARE YOUR FRIEND!!! Each time you start a new round, simply add a stitch marker to that corner, ESPECIALLY if you crochet over your tails. That way, you when you put the granny square down to pick up the new yarn, you KNOW which corner you started with on the previous round, and just start in the next corner, moving your stitch marker once the corner is made. Which goes back into the tip for preventing the granny lean. And stitch markers can be ANYTHING. A scrap of yarn that's different from the colors you are using, a safety pin, a chip clip, a lobster claw clasp, or you can spend a few dollars and purchase stitch markers - either the simple plastic ones that come in a pack, or cute specialty ones that people make to sell.

So you were one of the first video tutorial makers I learned to crochet with several years ago. Can I just say, your video editing quality is so much improved! Though I still get made fun of by my teen and 20 something kids and my brother that dad has a "crochet bag"! 😆😆

How would this work with one color granny square?

Thank you soo much for this tutorial! I’ve never been very happy with my granny squares; I always thought they looked kinda wonky. Now that I’m using your method, they look pretty much perfect! 😁

So glad I found this. I haven't done granny squares in forever so I needed a refresher. Best looking one I think I've ever made. I'm crocheting over the ends as I go so no weaving!

I love this in theory and im going to try again. I did the beginning correct ch 3 st into 1st chain, chain 4 then all the dc and chains. At the end joining it to the first part, mine looks off. I'm super confused what you did. Mine looks like its missing a corner. Will go back and review but maybe someone can help me out.

Is the chain 4 at the beginning supposed to eventually become the corner at the end? Mine looks weird

It would help if you spoke what you are doing as you’re doing it for every stitch in the tutorial. You kind of leave us hanging assuming we see the steps you are doing.

The tips about the basic foundation & how much they increase each round, and _especially_ how to correct the "lean" are game changers! Thanks so much!! It'd be great though if you could dial back the muzak & keyboard typing sound effects - they recreate the unpleasant feeling of being hold with a utility company lol. I know most people can tune out the background, but many of us can't , and it makes it much harder to focus & learn!

How do you do this when you aren't changing colors? Fasten off and change corner

If you don’t want to use the tips, start from the corner. If you do, then yes just do what she’s doing without colors
