My Granny taught me how to crochet and make granny squares when 53 years ago. I've made numerous blankets, bags baby clothes etc. Blackberry stitch is one of my favourite stitches to ring the changes in granny squares-and Charity Shops my regular yarn supplier. One of the tips I offer those I teach, is the importance of getting a comfortable way of holding both hook and yarn- and away to go🌼

I use 4 chains, but i also usually slip stitch into the chain, then chain space because i find it makes the last but one double crochet in the round easier to place. Love how smooth the cloth of each square is done this way.

Thank you so much for this pattern! I'm so glad I come across your video, your pattern is so clean. I've always had a problem with the joins when starting a new row. Thank you so much! I did half double crochet and started with 4 chains. HDC feels too tight so i didnt include the first stitch she did after the "corner" basically skipped that and went straight to the very first visible stitch. Came out well as long as the sides have equal stitches! Thank you again!

Tutorial WAY TOO fast and confusing 😭 I am so stressed and confused. You don’t show which stitches, you don’t give time to show the same stitch 2-3 times you just assume the viewer understood and did it perfect in time with you, leading me to rewind multiple times over the same section. I have been crocheting amigurumi and c2c for ages and never have trouble following stitches or patterns but this video was so overwhelming :( Edit: instead of just complaining bc I am frustrated, I realized this seemed very harsh. I can see a lot of people enjoyed this tutorial and found it very easy to follow. So here is the part that confused me the most 1. It’s hard to follow exactly which stitches you are crocheting into. If it were slower or more deliberately explained, I think it would be easier to follow 2. I got confused and ended up with a totally different number of stitches at the end of each round, so in addition to knowing exactly which PART of each stitch to crochet into, it would be the most helpful to know how many stitches should be on each side as you go and where, so that you can check that you are following along in the same way as the pattern as you go. Instead of 3-7-11 stitches on each side, I somehow had 3-6-9 stitches, and I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong. It was very confusing following this pattern exactly as you said but not knowing why mine was totally not matching up with yours 😭 I think maybe I am crocheting into the wrong part of the stitch or doing the corner wrong? Someone please help ❤

I agree its very fast (i guess you could solve this by spowing the video down, but then the spoken part becomes hard to follow for me) and her fingers cover a lot of the important parts as well, its sad because the end result looks so nice and i wanna be able to achieve it without having to replay this video a thousand times

See, when I was trying, this, I’m not sure if I was doing it wrong, or something, but the side where you chain 5, just wasn’t looking good. It was too big, and just looked messy, so instead, after finishing the very first row (so making the corners) I chained 4 instead of 5, did that row, and instead of slip-stitching and chaining 4/5, I just did I the regular corner pattern. It looks much neater now, and it looks more like a square without blocking it at all. Hope that this helps anyone with my problem!❤
