Bhoplyatli Mhatari is one of the oldest and very popular Marathi story. Generally narrated by Grand parents, this story is about a old thin lady who wants to go to meet her daughter, who stays in a nearby village. While going to her house the lady has to cross a dense jungle. In that jungle she meets a tiger to wants to eat her and she request the tiger not to eat her as she is going to meet her daughter and promises him to eat her when she returns from her daughter's home fat and healthy. The tiger let's her go thinking he would eat a healthy old lady later instead of a thin lady. Than she encounters a bear and a wolf. She says same thing to both of them and both of them lets her go. After reaching her daughter's home and staying there the lady gets fat and healthy after eating fresh fruits and food. While returning she says her daughter about the wild animals in the jungle. Than her daughter thinks of an idea. She gets a big pumpkin and asks her mother to get into it. And when the animals ask you you say it to them i am not the old lady that you are searching for and you will reach home safely. The old lady uses this idea and reaches home safely.
