I remember when I was growing up in the 70’s all the cool guys owned a 1600E. There was no foreign muck on our roads back then, it was British,British and more British hardware. OH! How times have changed.

I had a silver fox 1600e absolutely loved it .4 years of joyful motoring. Gold was called Aztec gold and Saluki bronze was much darker

Was saluki bronze - the difficult to describe sort of 'mushroom rose' colour - depending on the light? My cousin had a 1600E in that colour and his Dad had a silver fox Corsair 2000E.....which was later handed down to me. Lovely shade of silver - your 1600E must have looked good in it!

Yes it was that mushroomy type of colour . They also did a non metallic colour dark aubergine 🍆 😀

I bought a 1970 1600 E brand new for the cost of £1061.00 from Ford Dagenham motors in 1970 and my father at the time suggested l must be crazy giving more than a thousand pound for a Ford - same gold colour (aubergine was also a popular colour) had it two years and sold it for about the same money - top speed 99 l could never get it to 100 !

Built me a mk11 2 door gt from the ground up.....lovely cars. Where I live theirs a parked up Mk11 savage, every now and again the wind whips the tarp off it, and It just looks the business, Twin front anti roll bar , just as it should be. Last time I saw it moving was 12 years ago......such a shame.

Never been a fan of Mk2 cortinas but that is a stunner! Love the wheels and stance. Gold suits it better than silver too! Great story with the Zodiac too. Seems like a real nice guy. Great video Marcus 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

Very nicely done cortina, remember my grandad had a mark 2 estate in metallic green as a company car - great memories of him taking me on his visits to customers. Not sure about the Zodiac, the bonnet slats are a little over the top, sometimes less is more

Ooh, Wee! Lights in the wheelarches! I was going to paint my black and white Razor Edge Karmann-Ghia GOLD underneath, and take it to to car shows. Then, I was going to have mirrors underneath, and illumination , so people could see this attention to detail UNDERNEATH. I was going to use a gold underbody paint, called ADUP BRONZESEAL. BUT they didn't make this paint any more, because it contained asbestos!

Hi Marcus Great video, lovely cortina 1600e my dad had the same in gold but his vynal roof was in dark brown. It was stunning I use to go to shows with mum and dad when I younger, years ago one great cortina event was held a heaver castle great day, dad sold the car to a collector, we still have some great photos as memories.

Gold mk2 tina's absolutely rock imo . I have a near flawless one in aqua jade .I like them equally.. As for his dad's zodiac, it wears its history very well and love its retro mods 👍

The Cortina is beautiful and the Zodiac is a car I've never seen and it is a awsome unique car. When watching a program from over seas i feel obligated to call the the hood a bonnet but when you pulled the lever to open the bonnet it had printed on the the lever "HOOD" gotcha from New Jersey 😊😊😊

Am I right in thinking that zodiac used to cruise the roads of Southall back in the day! I'm sure that's the same car. Used to have a boomerang antenna on the boot lid. There's not too many MK3 zodiacs with immitation knock offs on the wheels. I'd be interested to know if that's the same car!

1600 E = elegance in a car ! sure is bloody beautiful super fine job there all the right up-grades well loved and cared for= well done sir thank you - i put a 3.5 v8 into a 240 1964 cortina 4 speed manual = ran and drove it - but fail in the end .

I’m 72 my second car was Cortina 1600E colour dark bronze I remember doing 110 mph down the M23 such a nice car but I had to sell it to get marred. Great website.

If anyone remembers the song 2,4,6,8 motorway circa 1977 by Tom Robinson then. My brother a DJ got me to film out of his webasto sunroof going along a then reasonably empty M5 from this same vehicle. This was when videos were up and coming with music but my brother made his own. What a beautiful car that was. Gearbox like silk, revvy engine, all the dials and full length sunroof and rostyle wheels. Very desirable indeed

They should make a new 1600 E. but with modern upgrades. IE. Electric windows air con. Powerful engine better gearing power full brakes. Bigger wheels. Sound proofing. Would be a great car. Especially with a cossie England. I would love it. Best looking Ford ever.

Loved my 1970 Mk2 1600GT (mildly tuned) in pale blue with mid blue interior (TOF264H) it used to fly !, 105mph 😂

Carnage incarnate, millennial BS. I was a 14yo passenger in a Black Zodiac racing a Mk 2 Jag on the A6 between Shap Quarry and Kendal in 1968, the Zodiac won , sweet. At 17 got a metallic green 1600E and was cut up on M6 going to Carlisle, giving the driver the finger ,to see it was driven by a Nun. I wouldn’t want either of these lump’s of tat.

It’s known as an either Series 1 or the later Series 2 1600e. The description Mk2 was never attributed to the 1600e. If in doubt, check with a Ford enthusiast!

Also l owned a Mk2 Lotus Cortina back in the day and that definitely had seatbelts did the 1600E that my friend owned at the time. Sorry but it’s cars older than that you’re referring to.
