OFFICIAL DEV REPSONSE: Dove Administrator, Dev, Community Manager People only get banned from contacting Player Support for harassment - so there's that, you do not get banned for contacting our Player Support about an appeal for a current ban or asking a question that you need an answer to. (Asking to speak to a real person = "harassment?") With regards to the video in question - sorry but the information is not accurate. Hackers do not get players banned for impersonating their accounts, this isn't something that happens and this is not the reason why bans occurred. You can also not get banned for someone randomly cheating in the game, and it making it look like you were the cheat. (This literally happened and they apologized for it publicly. All the evidence is still available. Are we allowed to just say things didn't happen now??? Insane response TBH) With regards to ban appeals, they are handled by our Player Support and when an appeal is made the information is checked very carefully once again, and by more than one person to verify. All players are entitled to go through the appeal process but once that appeal is denied the process is ended and your ticket is closed, as well as any future tickets that you make on the subject. Again, this does not ban anyone for access to our Support services. (Again, there's PROOF that this isn't true at all. Most people get automated responses that never actually check anything.) We actively encourage players to reach out to us if they're suspicious of a player in their game, we have a player support team for these very reasons. We understand how frustrating it is when there is a cheater in your game, we have described the issue as an arms race due to the nature of it - ie we fix said cheat, new cheat developed - round and round in a circle, this is the same that many if not all online games face. There are always developments made on our side and will continue to be developments, as explained before we cannot discuss these matters as we will not give information to the people developing these hacks our ways to combat them. (This isn't about hackers, it's about players being falsely banned and how BHVR is handling it.)

it's the actual dumbest thing they could do, even in their own selfish interest. if the person was rightfully banned, they lose nothing by communicating because they'll easily be able to tell that the person was in fact rightfully banned and keep them off their game. if the person was wrongfully banned, they get to look like heroes for fixing the situation. treating everybody as if they are guilty with no dispute, ESPECIALLY when they know they have a serious issue like this that they've been very publicly made aware of, is the third option that shouldn't even exist to them because whether they're right or wrong about the person deserving the ban, they still just look like assholes who don't care about their community.

I'm increasingly confident in saying that BHVR lives off of the licensed chapters alone, because if they depended on gameplay or technical support to live, they would starve. I'm happy to say that I haven't purchased anything in over a year. I don't plan on spending any more money on a game that has as many support issues as it does gameplay balance issues. It's funny how the average player of the game is always new players and never veteran players. Many people end up quitting the game when they realize what it's really like. I myself only play about 3 days a month now.

@@Snootch When servers crash, you are kicked out of the game. The game itself doesn't know the difference between a DC and a "server crash or kick". It automatically believes you DC'd, therefore you face the DC timer. Also, I didn't get banned from the game, I got banned from the Steam Discussions page. I can still play the game, but I'm not going to if the servers keep crashing and I get punished for it.

BHVR as a company truly baffles me with how bad they hard stuff like nerfs, cheating, and other things of the sort. They are the ignorant kings of gaming development. They are the total opposites of the DE devs for Warframe. When DE screws up they admit it fully and actually think about what to do to fix whatever is happening. People losing stuff like twitch drops or items they earned from events? No if they're told what happened they'll usually fix it. Nerfs are that needed but went too far? DE will listen if the fandom tells them that they went too far. BHVR does the opposite...they lie. They apply band aid after band aid of fixes but refuse to actually hit the issue at it's core. DBD's anti cheat actually is the worst ever, I'd argue Rust's anti cheat is better and you can get kicked from a server for just falling weird in that game. Then again Rust is full of hackers.

The biggest issue with many companies from other Genres and BHVR is the lack of transparency and communication between the developers and the community about serious issues like this. People are scared to play the game if some butt hurt or overall foul person wants to get you banned for nothing in particular. BHVR is in a weird position where they don't have the resources (apparently) to address the rampant hacking problem in DBD, but it's also so rampant that they cannot publicly acknowledge it or they'd get lambasted by everyone, rightfully. There's currently so many subtle speedhackers (at least on console crossplay) that it's difficult and unfun to play the game, and it's frivolous trying to learn precise killers like Huntress or Unknown or Dracula or Wesker or pretty much anyone with micro, because the difference in speed is going to throw off any finely-tuned muscle memory- this not only exposes speedhackers (who very rarely get banned in my experience) but also means you'll be learning incorrect data because you'll be adjusting your angles based on the wrong movement speed. For roughly 2 years by my estimation, hackers have been subtly ruining public matches and blatantly ruining streamers' matches, and there's no longer any excuse. It is actively difficult to play, learn, or enjoy the game because of hackers, and hackers are getting more powerful because BHVR is not addressing them. This is pathetic and anyone that gives money to such an incompetent company is an idiot.

I had a team of TTV streamers ALL make false reports against me and open support tickets. I popped into their streams after the match ended, and saw that they were editing clips to try to make me look bad in an attempt to get me banned from the game. Likely the most toxic players I ever encountered on ANY game. Not only did they do it to me, but they did it on every killer they lost against. I opened a ticket against them, warning BVHR what was happening. I never got a reply, but nothing ever happened either.

This is why, when I stream (and I know I'm a small streamer barely ever getting any traffic due to my inconsistent scheduling), I always profess to being a "friendly Killer player" and a "friendly Survivor." I don't play every day; just once-in-awhile (cause the community is seriously brainrot of the soul) to work on Tome challenges and Events. I prefer to forsake any "kills" and Rank Ups for everyone having a good, fun match. That, and I also never delete my VODs, and I often times have a friend or two (or three) in my ears, watching my stream, commenting vocally whilst also talking about their own games and shit that I also respond to... Like I say: why do something that could ruin all my time and money invested? It just isn't worth it. If you ever go against a Xeno who likes to furiously headnod, go for lots of Tail Attacks, and backs their badonkadonk up to turrets at times (as well as preferring to 2-hook all Survivors)...you've probably run into me, your neighborhood friendly Xeno boy/Queen.

I got a VAC ban on Steam for CS:GO years ago. And like you said, I kept pestering support to figure out why I was banned. They eventually told me they would never respond to anything I send them ever again. I still don't know why. I'm just lucky it only effects CS:GO and no other game from Valve. Not that I've cared to play any of thier games since then.

If you guys want this game fixed you need to stop playing. Look at the history of DBD. Things only get done when the player base plummets. If you band together and take a collective break you will see this issue fixed by the next chapter, if you keep playing and the player base stays high they will never fix it

BHVR simply don't care about cheater and hackers, they don't impact on their money so there's no reason to implement anything even remotely serious as anticheat or a better report system or a basic replay system. The day hackers start to impact bhvr financial they will resolve the issue in a week

I was falsly banned once and I submitted a ticket and the outcome was I was falsely banned and they removed the ban with some iri shards I don't remember how much and 5.6 million blood points

Funny thing, I just got banned for 10 years from dbd because of "third party" software. I don't run hacks, nor take advantage of any exploits ingame. I did their appeal process, and I did tell them it was potentially a hacker impersonating me. Nope. They told me that it was legit and they didn't lift my ban. I even had other people on forums say the same thing about this too, and they threatened to ban my support claims if I pressed any further. I do believe it was someone with the potential to hack or instaperma ban me because prior to my ban, I had two games where I accidentally bodyblocked someone as I was trying to take a hit for them. After those two matches, I got the noti saying I was banned for hacks. I spent over 2k hours and bought most of the dlc. I'm not getting my account back. So, I guess I escaped the trials lol

BHVR is a shady company using dirty tactics for years. They nerfed hillbilly to make Oni seem stronger to make more sales, then a year or 2 later restored billy back. They nerf old perks to make new perks seem better to make sales. They just want your money. Their shady tactics is why i quit, well that and their hacker problem. Their sales tactics are dirty. If you like or love the game, it is hard to see until you get that bad taste in your mouth from their dirty tactics. It doesnt surprise me they do just as bad at customer service.
