Thank you for posting this link . The content of this video is consistent with the account given by the Malankara Orthodox historians . However, recently one article published in “ PACHAKKUTHRA” monthly ( DC Books Kottayam - August 2024 ) gives a different view point. The author alleges that Malankara Orthodox Church has taken away the Latin Rite identity of the Brahmavar Community and has imposed the Syrian Rite . It seems that there is some substance in this viewpoint. Anyway, it’s high time that we should put the role of Mar Alvares Julios in its rightful place and project his efforts in a national perspective as a fight against the attempts to bring Indian Christianity under foreign dominance ( whether it’s Roman or Syrian ) .

V. Nagam Aiya wrote, in Travancore State Manual, that Alvares "describe[d] his Church as the Latin branch of the Syriac Church of Antioch.
