Word of Warning: The last bot that he used basically held positions until they were profitable, which is why each trade turned out positive. But as you could see his unrealized P/L was 200$. This bot could work in less volatile markets, however, if the market starts trending against your position, the bot will not exit your position, which could easily lead to you blowing up your account. So for anybody thinking that you could get rich using his last bot, you really can't.

The reason why manual trading is still big and used a lot in asset management is because we trade by adapting to current market conditions and using fundamental analysis (economics). Algos can be profitable but believe me they are sadly not available to retails traders and owned by institutions. The algo you have been using seems to open opposite trades and accumulate the volume on both then closing the winners cashing in the profit. This is why the running PnL (profit n loss) is over 25% drawdown. Cool experiment but wold never put my money in such a thing especially for longer periods of time. In asset management, we need a track record of a minimum 6months before concluding anything. 😀 Hope that was useful 💰

The 25% drawdown was based on the settings used, people are going to use this thinking they can make huge amounts of money quickly which every trader knows is not how it is done. I tried it back testing tweaked the settings and had a 3% drawdown over 2 months, sure the account was not doubled but it is an extremely promising EA. However the live testing will be the real proof weather it is worth the time.

Ive been coding my own bots for nearly 3 years now. The biggest issue that is often overlooked, is just how important human emotion and intuition is in making trades. Even if you have a strategy that is profitable when manually traded, its not likely to be profitable when automated due to the lack of human reasoning when filtering out potential good or bad trades. The reality is that most indicator based automated strategies will have an accuracy rate that floats around 50% over the long term with a 1:1 Risk/reward, then when you factor in commissions, fees and slippage you start losing money real quickly.

Did any of your strategies use stop losses and take profits, though? If so, were they regular or trailing stops? Also, were your strategies based on single indicators or confluence of multiple ones? I had pretty much the same results as you when playing around with simple strategies based on single indicators and simple risk management - 50-60% win rate and about 1:1 risk reward, breaking even or making tiny profits at best. However, when you start using multiple indicator confluence you can push that win rate to 70-85%, and with trailing stops you can push the risk:reward to 1:4 - still massively dependent on the particular combination of indicators you use, how you interpret them, your settings for stops, which asset you're using them on, etc. These examples are just the best possible combinations I've found so far, the vast majority of strategies were still wildly unprofitable even when applying these principles... Obviously, I did take into account slippage and fees, and backtested over large and split sample sizes to make sure it's stable over longer periods of time and in different market conditions. Still need to do plenty more live paper trading before I consider dumping any real money into it, but I did run a live paper trading session (so actually using real-time prices and getting exact fee/slippage numbers from the exchange) for a week or so and saw some decent gains. Obviously, a week is not exactly an indepth test, but my bot is pretty CPU and memory intensive so it's hard to run it 0-24 for extended periods of time while also using my PC for other things - I'll need to get a separate one I can just run the bot on unimpeded. But with multiple indicator strategies and proper stops in every strategy you use, I'm confident you could make it profitable. It also took me a few years to get to this point, plenty of bugs and oversights, and I found literally millions of ways that don't work in the process, but now I'm confident it can be done. Just don't expect that you'll simply download some program and start reliably printing money overnight with 0 effort, that's a joke. This got very TL;DR, but my point was... just judging by the numbers you're getting, sounds like you're using simple one-indicator strategies, and no or simple risk management. Try 2-3 indicator confluence strategies, try plenty of indicator combinations (and setting variations for those indicators), make sure you're trying both trailing and regular stops for both stop loss and take profit, and use stops in _every_ strategy. Should start seeing better results and actual profitability. EDIT: Also worth mentioning - I'm doing all my testing on crypto, not forex.

Great video. The thing to consider though is that 1 week is an extremely small window of time for a sample size. Interested to see where things go in a month or more. Market conditions change and so if your strategy is not adaptive, what made you money one month, may not yield the same results the next. I recently went to through the same process. This bot is likely a GRID bot. It is running a unreasonable stop loss probably. Low risk/reward ratio, meaning high chance of closing in profit but when it loses it takes a massive loss wiping out all gains. A much better platform for trading bots is Ctrader and bot vendors are much more reputable. I hope you see this and follow it up with a dive into Ctrader. There you can actually optimize bot parameters using machine learning and see it play out the trades in historic chart. Better brokers offer this platform also. PS: Ctrader doesnt need coding knowledge. Hope this doesnt get lost in the section. Took me a while to go through all the BS online

You know you can backtest the EA. So befor you add more money you can tell if it will work for months even years.. a backtest from 2015 till today is a smart move. Its "strategy tester" you will find it in the meny :) good luck. Just dm me if you need help. Btw a backtest is done auto and take just a few mins :)

@@matthiasfina if you download or buy an EA you get a file to install in MetaTrader. MetaTrader has a built-in strategy tester where you can determine the timeframe, the equity etc and run a test. The results show you every detail, how the EA would have performed in the time you determined before. If he would have won more than he lost over the last few years you Should be good to go (no guaranty). There are EAs and signals that performed insane while the pandemic crash took place, they pushed 40-60% profit per month. But in the end: all money won is money other people lose. About 75% of private traders lose all their money. The other 25% win their money. (very basically)

You can’t go straight from knowing nothing about trading to using a trading bot successfully. By the way, having loads of open negative trades is a big red flag. DO NOT PUT A BOT LIVE WITH REAL MONEY!!! Test it on a demo account first, better yet, backtest it so you can see how it does historically, then test on a demo account to verify it behaves the same in the live world. You need to understand what the bot is supposed to do, otherwise how are you going to evaluate whether it’s working correctly or not? Backtesting should ideally be over several years and include at least one recession, the bare minimum is really two years so you can test seasonality and also aren’t biased by a single year’s behaviour. It’s going to be hard to find a bot that is profitable. People will keep profitable bots to themselves otherwise they risk the pattern dying out if lots of people trade it. I built my own trading bot from scratch in Python, I wouldn’t dream of doing it as an Expert advisor for MT4. For one, I can save all the data to a database for later analysis and I can program almost anything I want as it’s a fully fledged programming language. If you want to be successful with automated trading, don’t take shortcuts, do the work, it’s not easy but it can be done.

The second bot operates with a Martingale system (hence not a single lost trade). This means that as the trade continues to depreciate in value the bot increases its stake in the position. For an analogy; if you double your bet every time you lose, you will eventually see profit. This of course ignores the fact that if you continue losing and do not have infinite money you will blow up the account. The account will likely grow for a week or two before completely deteriorating near 100% of its balance in a matter of seconds due to the rapid trading. Everyone should think intuitively if looking to use a bot and conduct your own testing. If it seems too good to be true it probably is, sadly. :(

@@F4Y541 If you use a stop loss after every 1% loss, your win rate won't be as high. The bot yielded a huge profit because it risked 100% of the account's balance on each trade. So you lose once, and it's all over
