you make bias tape by cutting out fabric at 45° angle, that’s the stretchy part of it And then you have to iron it in half or in quarters whatever direction you’re taking a project

Was that a triple folded bias tape?
@BreaknRemake3 жыл бұрын
Ok I’m going to blow your mind right now. There is single and double fold bias. Single fold STILL HAS 2 SIDE FOLDED IN! Annoying! Double fold has both ends folded in THEN pressed in half. This makes my brain hurt so you and me can call it triple fold between us, but ask/look for double fold.
@sus8e462 Жыл бұрын
Nice & fun explanation! Wish you had understitched though--after years of skipping that step, realize now how much better the garment looks when done! Also, lovely fabric, but making a bias tape of the same weight & weave would look even better! Store bought tapes are full of sizing & made of low quality material, it can actually ruin an otherwise gorgeous top with different weight or shrinkage rates.... been there, done that! Often only realize it after first wear & wash 😢.

Would it be okay to use iron on hemming on the bias on the inside other than sewing?
@BreaknRemake3 жыл бұрын
I’ve never used iron on hemming. My best suggestion for you is to make a little sample. Iron a little bit of the hemming on a scrap fabric to see if it changes the hand or looks funky. Let me know how it turns out!
@gill87793 жыл бұрын
@@BreaknRemake I tried it & it worked out great. I did not want to stitch on the inside as it was a fine fabric. I even washed it & it held fine.

What a fun tutorial! In this instance would you recommend doing the bias binding on each piece of the bodice before attaching shoulder seams, or have you just done it this way for ease of filming? Cheers
@BreaknRemake3 жыл бұрын
Attach the shoulder seam for sure! I did it on a scrap of fabric because I didn't have any garments at this stage of construction. Good catch!
@sewandembmom124 жыл бұрын
Do you do the back neck and the front neck separately? You don’t sew the front and the back together and then sew on the bias tape?
@BreaknRemake3 жыл бұрын
THIS IS SUCH A GOOD QUESTION!!! Finish the garment totally, then you can add the bias tape. Or if you want to just wrestle with the bodice you only need to have the shoulder seams done to apply the bias tape.
@TamaraSummen5 күн бұрын
Really struggled following this. All good up until the point you flip it to the inside. Can't see the shape/ arrangement of the fabric on the inside from the video. Couldn't figure out on mine which side is supposed to be where and there was a bit that stuck out that I just couldn't figure out where to tuck into in order for it to be inside itself snd able to be stitched
